I feel the need to have a little whinge. Canva is already universally hated in our industry. It has freed up a generation of mostly women to design their own artwork but caused our industry endless unpaid work as a result to make magic from dung beans. But now Canva owns Affinity and you would think that would make things better. It doesn't.
Why? That is work. Why have work when we now have AI??? Enter ChatGPT and things have just dived 3000% worse. Actually make that 10,000% worse. I am now sending emails every day to explain why artwork is simply not printable. A least Canva attempts to create vector designs. ChatGPT creates images with shadings and 3D effects that cannot be converted.
The day is coming soon I will simply reject all jobs made with ChatGPT artwork. This is not a criticism of the people wanting to use this amazing tool called AI. It is a criticism of the tool causing mayhem and distress in our industry and not giving a rat's arse that what looks okay as a thumbnail on a computer screen is not nor ever will be something you put on a sign or a vehicle.
