A website can help take you places... go Scotty go
Hello...
Welcome back to Writers Question Time. This week we chat to a self-published author, Scott J Lamond aka
We asked Scott...
Where do your ideas come from?
Scott - I have always been a keen observer of the human condition and I love watching the world go by a window while I am drinking coffee.
I choose random people and invent story's that may suit them. This sometimes has given me wild ideas.
Having said that I have also had an amazing life so generally I only write about things I have seen or been involved in.
It makes it easy to tell the "truth' about what happened.
All I ever wanted was to write about what I knew to be the truth …the beauty of life …the raw up-close ugliness of …of
us …of people of everyday things that seemed so out of
place in their surroundings, because of their beauty.
That’s what I wanted people to see…
What advice would you give an up and coming/want to be a writer when they are sitting faced with the “blank page”?
Scott - Try doing something else ... for a little while. I swim most days in the Ocean. I have a waterproof iPod.
So I get in the water and go, sometimes for hours, and get lost in the rhythm of the water and the mechanics of swimming.
I find a small seed gets planted, sometimes more. I have had this when I am riding fast or driving quickly or working in a high tempo environment
I find for me a write my best stuff when my brain is engaged in something else, this is an actual well known scientifically proven concept called 'Flow'.
I have in the past tried to force myself to write something and when I read it later generally, it's not good.
Also, I would say be patient, relax it will come.
And finally, where can we buy your book?
