What a memorable morning in Kiama!

For the past 18 months, Kiama Unplugged have been working towards finding a home for a community piano. A place where anyone, whether you’ve been playing for years or are just starting out, can sit down, play some music and bring people together.

Today, that dream became a reality at Burnetts On Barney , with a piano generously donated by Epics Music .

The community came out in force to enjoy the beautiful sunshine, listen to some wonderful music and spend time together.

There was a little nod to Known Designs & Print too, with a Coreflute sign printed by us and Kiama Unplugged’s branded tees.

One of my favourite moments was seeing an old friend sit down at the piano, followed by an unexpected opportunity for me to have a go. A gorgeous young boy encouraged me to “play what I love”, which was just the sweetest thing.

Then my eldest had a turn, and before long was accompanying ᴋᴀɴᴇ ᴄᴀʟᴄɪᴛᴇ , who was there to gig.

I love seeing things like this happen in our community. People from all sorts of places, different ages and different walks of life, coming together over something as simple as music.

A piano, a beautiful morning and a whole lot of connection.

Well done, Kiama Unplugged. What a special thing to bring to Kiama. ❤️

She might kill me for this… 😂 but I couldn’t help but snap a pic of my friend Cara from Bunches Balloon Boutique // Balloons, Party & Gifts Kiama when she came to pick up her selfie frame for her upcoming hockey finals!

She ordered one last year and it was a hit within the team. While she wasn’t planning on ordering one for 2026, her teammates clearly had other ideas and pushed for her to get one for this weekend!

Selfie frames are just one of the things we can print on Coreflute, and I’ve got multiple Coreflute prints in the print queue this week.

Sometimes it starts with a simple email.

“I’d like to meet with you to talk about printing.”

That email turned into a conversation over chai, some bigger conversations, a few ideas being shared and eventually some printing for a brand new bubble tea shop here in Kiama.

Today we got to help finish things off with decals for U-Tea Kiama windows, and we couldn’t be happier with how it all came together.

But this is the part of Known Designs & Print that we love most.

It’s not just about printing something and handing it over.

It’s about people.

It’s about hearing the idea someone has been carrying around in their head, helping them work out how to bring it into the real world, and walking alongside them as they build something of their own.

Today is R U OK? Day.

I’m not at all against a day like today. In fact, I think anything that creates greater awareness around the need for connection, safe conversations and looking beyond ourselves is a good thing.

But I think there’s another question worth asking.

What do we say when someone answers, “No, I’m not okay”?

Sometimes we can feel the pressure to have the right words, offer advice, fix the situation or tell someone what they should do.

But often, we don’t need to have the answers.

Sometimes the kindest thing we can do is simply be present.

Listen without rushing to respond.

Sit with someone in the uncomfortable.

Let them know they don’t have to pretend everything is okay around us.

We don’t always know what someone is carrying, and offering advice about something we know very little about can sometimes make a person feel more alone, rather than less.

So maybe today isn’t just about asking, “Are you okay?”

Maybe it’s about being willing to stay when the answer is no.

Being available.

Being safe.

Listening.

And reminding someone that they don’t have to carry everything by themselves.

Sometimes connection doesn’t look like having the right words.

Sometimes it simply looks like staying.

Melbourne, here we come.

First stop on the road south was Kiama to catch up with Nathan and Esther and collect the finishing touches for Fine Food Australia.

Esther from Known Designs Printing has done a brilliant job on our new shirts, and the coffee-sack aprons Careen made for us have come up seriously well. Add a big WALCHA across the back and I reckon there’ll be no mistaking where we’re from.

There’s something pretty special about taking a little coffee company from a small New England town onto a national stage.

Next stop: Melbourne.

Tonight, Kiama Business Network hosted their annual Microbusiness Event, showcasing 10 local businesses with fewer than five employees who are giving the whole business thing a right ol’ crack.

There was chatter, food and drinks, networking, opportunities to share ideas, and then the chance to hear from these 10 incredible microbusinesses. We learnt a little about their history, what they do, and the impact they’re having right here in our local community.

But one of the most exciting things for us was looking around the room and seeing our handiwork scattered throughout the event.

From branded name stickers, a frame, business cards, flyers and custom keyrings, to pull-up banners, custom tees and hoodies; it was such a special reminder that local support really does go a long way.

Because behind every small business is a person (or a small team) who has had an idea, taken a risk and decided to give it a go.

And that’s something we absolutely love about what we do at Known Designs & Print.

Spring is in the air.

There’s warmth, sunshine and the first signs of flowers beginning to bloom. The garden is coming alive, and there’s something about this season that feels full of anticipation; new life, bright beginnings and a little more colour after the darkness of winter.

And then, just like that, labels that make you think of summer come across our printer.
