5 years in business β¨
Looking back at every version of my website over the last 5 years feels a little surreal. Every redesign reflected a different stage of growth, not just in the business, but in me too.
Year 1 Website
Everything was DIY.
I wrote my own website copy, took my own photos in the backyard, designed my branding myself and built the website from scratch. I was learning as I went and simply focused on getting something live so I could start building my portfolio and putting myself out there.
At the time, it was not about perfection, it was about starting and getting the business live.
Year 2 Website
This was the stage where I started refining everything.
By this point I was working full time in the business and had a much clearer understanding of the type of clients I wanted to work with and the direction I wanted the business to head.
I updated the website to better showcase my projects, refined my service offerings and improved the overall messaging and structure of the site.
I also started investing more seriously into the business through marketing strategy, professional copywriting and brand photography.
This was when I ensured my website was about my business positioning, showcasing clarity and building trust.
Year 5 Website
This version feels the most aligned yet and the one I am most proud of!
Over the years the business has grown significantly and the website needed to grow with it. I had stronger projects, clearer processes and a much deeper understanding of the experience I wanted clients to have when interacting with my business.
This version refined everything I had built over the years and finally feels like a true reflection of the business behind the scenes.
One of the biggest things I have learnt is that businesses evolve faster than most websites do.
Now, you definitely do not need to redesign your website 3 times in 5 years π
I am a website designer after all!
5 years later and I still feel like Iβm learning every day, but Iβm incredibly grateful for every client, every project and every stage that got me here π
I would love to hear how your business has changed and evolved over the years too!
