I tried to take a different approach to this somewhat unconventional swim meet with the style of photos i took. More about athletes as people than the usual race focus. Certainly literally up close and personal in the rain with some of the swimmers I shot in Singapore from this World team 🙏

The second part of my shoot with Emma reflecting what you can create with a lady with no modelling experience. Simply keeping it real, allowing their personality to shine more often that not makes for beautiful pictures.🙏
The history behind the tie dye tee, something I wore as a teen!
I was approached by a Uni Student in Sydney ten years ago to do some shots of her hand-made tees she was selling at the markets for her FB. That's her in the third pic. I ended up with a few and this one stood the test of time.

An amazing experience working with .i.i.i.r.a_ in Paris. Her life was turned upside-down by the Russian attack on her home city Kharkiv in the Ukraine. Her expression and creativity in this shoot was amazing 🙌

Kaylee McKeown leading the other finalists out of the pool after a convincing win in the 100 backstroke at the trials to compete at the 2025 World Championships in Singapore. McKeown went on to take the gold medal in both the 100m and 200m backstroke in Singapore.

I was watching the 2002 movie Frida on Netflix during the cyclone after a chat with a Ukrainian friend, an ICU nurse in Kyiv. She had kindly asked if I was ok during the cyclone on the AUS East Coast. During the chat, I heard explosions in the background. She said it is always scary when the missile defense system is shielding the city from death and destruction. Amazing resilliance and bravery from this young woman 💙💛
I met Ukrainian , who had escaped the war to make a life in Berlin. I found this tee of the amazing artist and feminist Frida Kiahlo. It seems appropriate for IWD to post this both in relation to the recent actions of "orange man" towards Ukraine and Mexico. Frida would certainly not have been silent!
Special mention to two other amazing Ukrainian women I have worked with in Europe, (now in Canada) and (Portugal) 🙏
