One of my neighbours suggested I make a beer can holster, so I set about cutting up some scraps and pieced together a rough shape. I then measured all the pieces and drew up a pattern on the computer so that I could mark out all the cut lines and hole positions with the laser. After that, it's out with all the manual tools to punch it out and stitch it altogether.
I designed it so that I could utilise all the smaller bits of leather left over after making all the larger bags. What you see here is the first prototype using a standard bag leather but the plan is to use a nicer looking leather.
I'm open to suggestions on anything to improve the look and functionality, so don't be shy to offer an opinion!

Something a bit different this week & uncommon - a client requested a new to***co pouch. After trialling a couple of different designs, I came up with this custom pattern, cut from "crazy horse" genuine Australian bovine leather and handstitched with a braided waxed thread, I'm confident it will last for many years to come.

One of the questions we’re asked most often is whether we actually make these bags ourselves. The answer is yes — every piece in our Jethro Leather range is 100% handmade here in Sheffield, Tasmania.

From cutting the leather to hand punching every stitch hole and stitching each seam by hand, every bag is built from the ground up in our workshop taking days to complete. We source the majority of our leather from Packer Leather Shop tannery in Queensland, using high quality hides made to last for decades.

We understand our bags cost more than the low-quality imported products sold through retail chain stores, but there is a world of difference between mass production and true handmade craftsmanship.

What you’re buying is more than just a bag — it’s quality materials, time, skill, durability, and genuine Australian craftsmanship.

Jesse has been busy this week replenishing stock of our mid size duffle bags. Completely hand stitched the old fashioned way from 100% genuine Aussie leather. It's a time consuming process but the final result is rewarding. All our Jethro Leather products will be available at the Tasmanian Made Winter Market at the Silverdome in June and at the Tasmanian Craft Fair later this year.
