If your business doesn’t have a website, you’re already losing projects you don’t even know about.

I just wrapped up a new website for Crick Building Group, and here’s why it matters:
When someone hears your name, the first thing they do is Google you.

If all they find is a page, they don’t see credibility. They see risk.
A solid website isn’t just about looking good; it’s about showing clients you’re professional, established, and ready for serious projects.

Your website is your modern-day storefront. Without it, clients will choose the company that looks ready, the one with a website and an active social media presence, the one that's showcasing their demonstrated ability

If you’re in construction and you know your work deserves to be seen, it’s time to build your digital foundation. DM me to make your website your strongest asset.

Most people think branding is just a logo. It’s not. It’s the trust that makes someone choose you over the competition.

This month, I had the privilege of working with two incredible local businesses, Crawfson Plumbing and Pipsqueaks Boarding Kennels

What I love most about this work? Helping small businesses shine in their community with a brand that feels real, solid, and unforgettable.

Because here’s the truth: without a strong brand, you’re just another option. With it, you become the only choice.

If you’re a local business ready to look as professional as the service you deliver, let’s talk. Drop me a message and let’s build your brand together.

Most construction businesses don’t lose contracts because of their work.
They lose them because their brand doesn’t reflect the scale they’re capable of.

I’ve seen brilliant contractors — electricians, civil firms, engineers — miss out on Tier 1 opportunities simply because
🔹 Their capability statement undersells them
🔹 Their LinkedIn profiles and company page are inconsistent with their documentation
🔹 Their website hasn’t been updated since 2016
🔹 And their brand feels more “subbie” than a serious construction industry firm

If you’re serious about scaling, this matters more than you think.

📥 Plus, I’ve included a free Brand Readiness Checklist you can use internally to assess if your business is presenting at the level it operates.

I run Wattle Lane Agency, and we help construction businesses across Australia position themselves to win Tier 1 contracts through strategy, branding, documentation, and digital content that reflects their capability.

💬 DM me “CHECKLIST” and I’ll send the checklist directly — no fluff, no pressure.

The construction industry is a pretty competitive sector. Just being good at your trade doesn’t cut it anymore. You NEED to market your business, you NEED to stand out.

Relying on word-of-mouth marketing will be what keeps your business small; word-of-mouth can’t be your whole marketing strategy. It’s just not sustainable.

For businesses looking to scale, to secure bigger contracts, government contracts even. Or build industry partnerships, a capability statement is what you need.

Don’t take my word for it; here’s the proof:

✅A capability statement we designed for Kelly Electrical resulted in a 15% increase in tender win rates - at an average job worth $1.2 million.

✅ A joint capability statement we worked on was the contributing factor in a job win worth over $1.5 million.

Capability statements aren’t just a fancy bit of paper; they’re a brand asset that aligns your business’s strengths with the project’s needs— bridging the gap between your value and their requirements.

I truly believe you have to know failure and adversity in order to meet success.

You only really fail when you quit on your dreams.

Regardless of my failures, I’m so grateful for the things they taught me, the people who have stood by me (thank you to my partner and his endless love and encouragement), and the lessons learnt. I’m better because of it.

Lest we forget.

I want to thank all the service men and women who have put their lives on the line to serve our country and to those who unfortunately never got to make it back home. I want to recognise that for some the war doesn’t end when they come home and many are left with permanent mental and physical scars.

At the going down of the sun
and in the morning
We will remember them.

I'm not saying social media is the way to increase your leads by 30% or anything like that, but hear me out: people use your digital presence to research your business before they ever decide to buy from you.

Getting clear on who exactly your clients are or who the people you want to target are will really help how you speak to them both online and in person.

Quality content both on your website and on social media and capability statements reaffirm to people that you're worth what you charge. if your content is rushed, blurry or just not showcasing you well then people will value your business as such.

I know that it seems like the logical thing to do, right - sell your services? I get it, but you can sell them without directly selling them. Think about it, did you buy that new vacuum because it was on sale, or did you do a bit of research and learn it had a mop attachment and a great battery? Focus on the benefits your service or products can bring to your clients, and I promise you'll get a much better response from people.

Hope that helps!

Is your marketing working for you?
I know marketing is the last thing on your mind half the time. You're running a business, trying to keep your team busy, meeting with clients to secure more business, sitting in meetings, and going out to site visits. leaving you little time to focus on marketing your business.

Maybe you've met with agencies, but they just don't understand the industry. We're different; not only have we actually worked within the industry, but we're genuinely passionate about your business.

Coming to a construction industry business near you! 🎉

Introducing your pocket-sized marketing helper; she can truly do it all. What she lacks in stature she makes up for in skill. She comes complete with a phone and laptop so she can help your business grow anytime, anywhere. Sneakers because she's always working at a breakneck speed and headphones for the vibe.

We just had to jump on the Barbie trend; sometimes it's fun and refreshing to take a small break to create something different.

We recently teamed up with Kelly Electrical to create a suite of visually stunning and strategically written documents. Their goal? To clearly showcase their capability, these documents are designed to accompany tender proposals.

We delivered a suite of tailored capability statements that look professional and effectively communicate Kelly Electrical's proven capabilities and value to potential clients. Kelly Electrical was able to benefit from our many years of experience in marketing electrical contractors; we knew exactly the angle needed to position the brand for continued success whilst capturing real onsite photos of the teams across multiple job sites.

Tell a friend to tell a friend, she’s back!
While I was away, I was lucky enough to be working with some great businesses that lead me to discover where my real passion was - serving construction industry businesses.

I know not every business always have the funds to dedicate to marketing and am still really passionate about serving small businesses as well which is why I’m working on some free educational tools and building some more in-depth materials and courses to offer my small businesses a DIY option with a bit of help.

I’m so excited for this new direction and so grateful for all the businesses who have worked with me both past and present!
