Account-based marketing (ABM) is a highly focussed, customised and personalised marketing approach. Unlike traditional marketing, where you may be using broad brushstrokes to locate and generate leads, with ABM you have laser-focus on the targets you wish to aquire.

Specifically, ABM involves getting to know your customers or ideal client profile (ICP) on a detailed level, fully understanding their painpoints and therefore being able to create and deliver content that addresses these needs at the correct time.

According to Raconteur the SaaS bow tie model is going to soon replace the traditional sales funnel model in B2B marketing - that's if it hasn't already!

As more and more touch points are involved in a customer journey, the straight-line funnel of traditional marketing doesn't work.

Research recently published by the Harvard Business Review agrees. This bow tie model allows marketers to acknowledge the opportunities to engage with customers post-purchase, anticipate their future needs and provide moment for upselling to these customers.
