A before and after. This paddock was full of rushes 3 years ago and unable to be sown.
1. Spray to kill what’s there
2. Rip all the rushes out with offset discs
3. Let brake down and disc again
4. Sow with annual rye grass
This paddock now sown with perennial ryegrass and sub clover will carry at a guess double if not more as many stock as before.

6 days later they have exploded not hard to see them now. Keep checking your pastures.
Redlegged earth mite feed on plant cells, causing a silvery or white discolouration of leaves, and can stunt or even kill seedlings. This damage can be particularly severe in canola and emerging pastures.

With sowing time just around the corner don’t miss out on sowing your crops. The paddocks are bare and hay sheds are emptying fast.
If it is another tight spring for rainfall you must sow ryegrass crops to ensure you have grass to cut for silage or hay. We saw a lot of self sown paddocks this year not produce many bales. where as all the sown country still cut a reasonable yeild.
I myself fell into this bracket.
It won’t grow in the bag as they say.

Got paddocks like this one
Sick of bouncing round the cab when checking stock and not growing grass having to feed out all the time.

First 2 pics 27th of December after 50mm of rain on Christmas Day
Second 2 pics 3rd of January after 25mm
Third 2 pics 7th of January after 34mm.
Sheep are now grazing after 40days

The 2023 silage and hay season came to a close this week Uga would like to thank all our customers old and new for there continued support throughout the year.
