Having trust with your client or prospect is critical throughout the entire sales process and it should be genuine.
Don’t be that person who says things they don’t mean or pays someone a compliment sarcastically. Be genuine in who you are and sincere with your words.
Take time to get to know who you’re dealing with. Are they the right fit for what you are trying to sell them? What is their lifestyle? Do you have other products/ services that may be valuable to them?
In order to find this out you have to ask questions.
Make sure you listen to what people have to say and are not just waiting for your own time to speak. Give them a chance to tell you about themselves, remember people love talking about their own lives.
Relate back to what they have said throughout the conversation and use paraphrasing when relaying their own information back to them.
