1. Optimise your website
For product and service based business having a functional and engaging website is so important. You can use a range of platforms like Wix, Wordpress, Shopify or Squarespace and host it for less than $30 a month. Many of these sites have the ability to upload a template so you get that designer feel for bootstrapping prices.

If your budget allows consider bringing on a copywriter or SEO specialist to optimise your website. They can also give you insight to improve your customer journey and increase user experience - leading to sales!

2. Set up your social media

Winging it will not cut it if you want to build your business. Bit of a hard truth there?

This is the difference between working on your business proactively and reactively.

Many businesses operate with a reactive strategy. When a competitor innovates or does something to make themselves more attractive to the target audience, other businesses are left playing catch-up. Even with marketing or content creation rather than planning, thinking about your ideal customer and their journey, you just throw stuff together and hope for the best.

On the other hand, a proactive strategy takes time and planning in advance. Taking the time to understand your core values and unique selling point. 5 steps for building a business that you love 🌱

1. Find your passion.
This is definitely easier said then done! If you don’t know exactly what you want but have a rough idea what you want to do a fun tip is to list all the things you love doing. Take your time, even a few days to brainstorm everything that comes to mind.

2. Problem Solve
Now on a seperate piece of paper begin to list our all problems that you could solve. Talk to friends and family, go on Facebook groups listen to what others want because they will be your audience. Link problems and your interests to create niches. For example you might like hairdressing and supporting mums. Baking and finding vegan alternatives. House plants and fun accessories.

3. Scale and Survey.
You can do this on paper or great a rocking excel document rank your niches. 5 being you are in love with the idea and super passionate and 1 that you’re not too interested in it.

4. Research.
Now you know you all the niches you like and thinking with a business mind. Take your top ideas and begin to research. Find out if the business you’re looking into has a profitable future, is there is a demand for it? Are people needing the service or product? Look for competition.

5. Find your USP
Find your unique selling point (USP) What makes you different to existing businesses in the market? How is your business going to stand out?

So yesterday I did something completely out of my comfort zone... I featured on a live TV interview 😱

Now for those who know me, I’m a chatter box and talk to anyone and everyone. But when it comes to public speaking and doing something new, I can get a little (ok a lot) nervy. When I had the opportunity to speak on I knew I needed to take on the chance to feature in the media and share our founding. From pitch to having my on the interview the whole process was stream less and easy.

My clients know how much I preach about PR exposure and getting your brand in the media, it was about time I took a page out of my own book!
