Swan Hill Highway Patrol’s Senior Constable Toby Gilmour recently completed a brutal fitness challenge to honour service members killed in the line of duty. Toby powered through 72-hours’ worth of workouts as part of his Mid-Life Challenge, and his efforts raised over $18,000 for Victoria Police Legacy and a local Swan Hill charity, A Good Kitchen.

Last Friday 23rd February, VPL CEO Lex de Man was delighted to be joined by VPL Board Member Assistant Commissioner Michael Grainger APM in Swan Hill to receive the outstanding $9,066.10 donation from Toby.

Congratulations Toby and thank you for your incredible support which will go a long way to support Police Legacy families.

🚨 Cardiac arrests often strike where we feel safest – at home. 🏠

Kim Rodger noticed something wasn't right with her husband Duncan when he was asleep at night.

Her quick action saved his life.

Kim sensed trouble and immediately dialed Triple Zero (000) as Duncan lay unconscious. As the minutes passed, Duncan’s breathing stopped, prompting Kim to start CPR, tirelessly continuing for over eight minutes as Ambulance Victoria and Fire Rescue Victoria raced to their doorstep.

Recently, Duncan and Kim had the chance to reunite with the paramedics and firefighters who joined Kim to save Duncan's life.

Firefighters are trained in Emergency Medical Response (EMR). They can perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), supply oxygen, provide first aid, use defibrillators and respond to many other life-threatening medical scenarios.

Around 1 in 10 incidents attended by Fire Rescue Victoria is an EMR.
