Most small businesses jump straight into ads…

But skip the part that actually makes them work.

Organic traffic might feel slow,
but it’s what builds trust, visibility, and a website that actually does something.

Think of it like compound interest —
the more you show up across your website, Google, and your content…
the more your presence grows over time.

And here’s the part most people miss 👇
Your paid ads work better when your organic presence is strong.

Not either/or.
They work together.

If you’re not sure where to start, don’t try to be everywhere.
Pick one place and build from there.

Search is still one of the biggest drivers of traffic online.

People are constantly searching for answers to their problems — whether that’s on Google, in Facebook groups, Reddit, or other platforms.

If you want your website to be found, one of the best places to start is by paying attention to the questions people are already asking.

Start with your current clients.
Look at conversations happening in Facebook groups in your industry.
Search your topic on Reddit.
And notice what appears when you type your topic into Google.

Those questions often become the best ideas for your website content.

When your website starts answering real questions, it becomes much easier for people to find you in search.

☕ Coffee chat question:
What’s one question you have about your website? I’d love to answer it in the next coffee chat.

Search is still one of the biggest drivers of traffic online.

People are constantly searching for answers to their problems — whether that’s on Google, in Facebook groups, Reddit, or other platforms.

So one of the simplest ways to start improving your website traffic is to start paying attention to the questions people are already asking.

Start noting the questions your clients ask you.

Look at conversations happening in Facebook groups in your industry.

Search your topic on Reddit and see what people are curious about.

Those questions are often the exact things people are searching for.

When your website starts answering real questions, it becomes much easier for people to find you.

If you have a question about your website or getting traffic to it, drop it in the comments. I’d love to answer it in the next coffee chat.

Want to know where your website traffic is actually coming from?

Instead of guessing, you can check your Google Analytics Traffic Acquisition report. It shows whether visitors are finding your website through Google search, social media, referrals from other websites, or direct visits.

This kind of data helps you understand what’s working — and where you might want to focus your efforts next.

For example, if your organic search traffic is growing, it’s a strong sign that your SEO and website structure are starting to do their job.

Understanding your website data doesn’t need to be complicated. Even a quick look at this report can give you valuable insight into how people are discovering your business online.

Once you know who you’re trying to attract, the next question is:

Where is your website traffic actually coming from?

Your website shouldn’t be working on its own.

Think of it as the central hub of your business , with different sources feeding into it.

Google.
Social media.
Referrals.
Email.
Direct visits.

You don’t need to grow everything at once.

Start with one source that your audience is actually using.
Make sure it consistently points back to your website.
Then build from there.

Which source drives most of your website traffic right now? Let me know in the comments

Once you’re clear on who you’re trying to attract, the next question is:

Where is your traffic actually coming from?

Google.
Social media.
Referrals.
Email.
Direct visits.

Your website works best as a central hub — with clear sources feeding into it.

You don’t need all of them at once.

Start with one source.
Make sure it consistently points back to your website.
Then build from there.

Strategic always beats scattered.

Which source are you focusing on right now?

I used to find “know your audience” really frustrating advice.

It felt vague. Overused. Stressful.

But when I look at websites that struggle with traffic, it almost always comes back to clarity.

Not niching for the sake of it.
Not fake avatars.

Just being clear about:
Who you want more of.
What problem you solve.
And the words they’re already using.

That’s where I start.

“My website isn’t getting traffic.”

It’s one of the most common frustrations I hear.

And before we jump to SEO, social media, or ads… I usually start somewhere much simpler.

Clarity.

If you’re not clear on who you actually want to attract, it becomes really hard to know:

• what to say
• what to post
• what to optimise
• or what you even want to rank for

Traffic follows clarity.

If your website feels stuck right now, ask yourself — who do I genuinely want more of?

“My website isn’t getting traffic.”

It’s one of the most common frustrations I hear, and it’s rarely about one single thing being “wrong.”

The way people discover businesses has changed.

A website doesn’t automatically generate visibility anymore. It supports your marketing it doesn’t replace it.

If you’re feeling stuck, start by asking yourself:
What actually feels like the biggest blocker right now?

Next, I’ll start breaking down what really drives traffic to a website.

“My website isn’t getting traffic.”

It’s one of the most common things I hear — and it’s rarely as simple as “the website is bad.”

The internet has changed.
Discovery happens in more places now.
And websites don’t really work on their own anymore.

Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about what role websites actually play now — and how they fit into a bigger marketing picture.

When you think about your own website, what do you feel is the biggest reason it’s not getting traffic right now?” Let me know 😊
