In collaboration with the Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM), Newbridge, and Peter Elliott Architecture, we are excited to share an update on the ongoing revitalisation of the South Melbourne Town Hall.

The projects design, led by Peter Elliott Architecture, honours the building’s nineteenth-century heritage while seamlessly integrating modern elements. With a nod to its original facade details, the redevelopment carries historic features forward. A key highlight for us was visualising the new window concept—connecting the Town Hall’s past with its future while also creating more internal space to accommodate this vibrant community.

The Town Hall is set to open in 2027 as a lively hub for music, creativity, education, and community.

We were engaged to create a suite of images that seamlessly connected the old weatherboard cottage with new carbon neutral brick masonry. Landscaping also played a key role in tying together the heritage facade, new side streetscape, and terrace spaces.

The use of rich tones and classic materials led our intention in capturing the essence of Project 21’s lustrous forms — where materials are tactile, textural and sculpted qualities serve as signatures throughout the kitchen.

Part of our creative brand exploration was to test various materials and textures on shells. We tested marble, jacquard fabrics, mirror reflections and were then enamoured by, and settled on, galvanised steel.

We perceive shells as portals into other worlds, reflected through our branding which Nick captured beautifully — from concertina folds to custom letterforms.

Shells are a potential, a home, always unique and different in detail.
