We started Harvey as a two-person experiment that’s grown into a purpose-driven team we’re really proud of. Our focus is simple: bring in the right people, in the right roles, who lift the work and keep the culture we care about.�

When we started Harvey, it was just the two of us — Simon and I — naively saying we’d never grow a team. Like many family businesses, we built ours on honesty, resilience, and hard work, driven by a shared motivation to use business as a force for good.�

Over the years, our team has grown far beyond family, but those same values remain at the core of everything we do. The real lesson? Growth isn’t about adding more people — it’s about bringing in the right people. The ones who share your values, strengthen your culture, and make the work (and the workdays) better.�

We remained committed to our core purpose: unlocking the potential of the New Economy to leave behind a better world.

We increase our clients' impact toward the UNSDGs through discounts - the greater their impact, the greater the discount. This year, we exceeded the impact level ‘amazing’ (our highest level of impact discounting), a couple of us had to do a fair bit of overtime, more than ever before, so we want to keep this balance in check.�
Provided $543,108 of discounts to our most impactful, for-purpose clients (a 58% increase YOY).

We’ve been lucky enough to partner with wonderful folks at Merry People for a few years now, and it’s been a fun one to be a small part of their growth.

It started with customer research to understand more about who their customer is and what they wanted across Australia, US and UK.

Then we rebuilt their Shopify store on the Theme 2.0 framework, refreshed the visual experience, and set up a scalable foundation that supports conversion, easier shopping, and ongoing optimisation.

Since then, we’ve kept iterating – custom apps, integrations, UX tweaks and continuous test-and-learn improvements to lift performance bit by bit.

A big part of the work is data. Every month we create features, run tests, review what’s working: A/B tests, LTV, inbox trends, GA insights, Elevar tagging, Shoplift experimentation – the whole loop.

It's been so fun to deliver work and see tangible results.

We partnered with Global Leadership Foundation, whose purpose is raising the emotional health levels of people on the planet by developing leaders, teams and workplaces. Their work has shaped our own leadership journey at Harvey, so it felt especially meaningful to help evolve the platform that shares their wisdom with others.

The new Webflow site improves access to Global Leadership Foundation’s leadership resources through clearer navigation and a simple, welcoming visual language. The team can now manage and update content independently, without developer support.

We also set up simple eCommerce and event ticketing so they can share their Emotional Health book, Enneagram card game and program experiences with a global audience.

It’s been a meaningful collaboration, and we’re proud to help bring their purpose to life in a way that feels aligned and grounded.

Sarah spent a sunny summer co-work day at the Social Impact Hub, hanging out with the Social Traders team. Seated next to Lisa, founder of Aggie Gifts (a Harvey client circa 2020) and now part of Social Traders, the day was full of great conversations. Think social impact, Harvey’s certification, and the very important break-room debate about whether eating the same lunch every day is wildly efficient or deeply boring.

Now newly certified with Social Traders, we’re excited to expand our support to even more impact-leaning companies and organisations. It’s great to see so much energy and investment going into spaces that bring organisations together for collaboration and connection. You’ll find purpose-driven changemakers at the Social Impact Hub like Regen Melbourne, The Next Economy and Infoxchange.

The second-best bit of the day? The location. Right next to Vic Market. If you’re heading that way, grab a coffee from Market Lane in the food hall and a börek from the Turkish grandmas. Highly recommend.

Our sixth year was about growth with quality. Not just doing more, but doing it better.

We made a deliberate decision to grow with very experienced team members and sharpen our focus on Brand, eCom and Web. That choice required significant investment, trial and error, and sacrificing profit in the short term, all under very tight cashflow. The result is a wonderful team, stronger work, and a clearer future.

It was a genuine turning point for Harvey. Challenging at times, but ultimately solid.

We delivered strong ROI for clients, over half a million dollars in impact discounts and pro bono support, and laid foundations for long-term strength. We also got things wrong: over-invested, under-priced some work, let scope creep slide, carried too many subscriptions, and didn’t show up enough in advocacy and community spaces.
