It’s super important to keep a pulse on how your business is showing up in market as the signs you need to take action can be subtle.

Hi, I’m Megan. One Acre Founder and Marketeer at Large, or when I need to be extra professional…Senior Marketing Consultant, at your service.

I started in advertising at the age of 19 when faxes, filing cabinets and Friday long lunches existed.

Having now worked for over 20 years in marketing and advertising, which is like a century in normal people years, I’ve seen the dawn of websites, Facebook, iPhones, the Kardashians. Along the way I have built marketing teams and delivered impactful and award winning marketing campaigns and initiatives for many major Australian brands that touch your life every single day.

With three children, two German Sheperds and a very supportive husband tolerating my insanely busy, but rewarding, Corporate career, we were one of those families that escaped the city during covid and bought one acre of land on the edge of Melbourne. To say we’ve grown and thrived since moving is an understatement.

That’s why One Acre was born. I have seen first hand how marketing can make a business and lack thereof can break it. Where to focus your time and energy?

If you are running a growing business, chances are you’re approaching your marketing by yourself, or with limited resource, and learning along the way. This can be challenging with not knowing where to start and where to focus your efforts.

As a starting point my advice is to just start with the basics, and max out your owned channels - website, email marketing, blog, social media. You want to make sure these channels are being used effectively and meaningfully to set you up for success - and before you worry about anything else.

1️⃣ If your brand assets, like your logo, look outdated, a re-brand can help keep your offer relevant in the eyes of your customers, and could attract new ones.

2️⃣ Your business over time may gain more clarity on what it stands for and who it should reach, so it could be time for a refresh.

Spending a lot of time (and 💰💰) on a well considered marketing strategy then getting stuck on how to actually deliver it happens in business more often than what you think - no matter how big the business, trust me!
