Trend Tool Technology has been awarded a Diamond Product Sustainability Award, recognising a practical and high-impact shift in its circular saw blade packaging.

By replacing plastic clamshells with cardboard packaging, Trend has addressed one of the tools sector’s most persistent waste problems. The change significantly improves recyclability, reduces plastic use, and makes products easier and safer for customers to open and dispose of without compromising durability or presentation.

The Diamond Award is reserved for products that demonstrate outstanding environmental performance and real-world influence. Trend’s decision shows how considered design changes, applied at scale, can reduce environmental impact while improving customer experience.

With products distributed through more than 2,600 outlets, Trend’s packaging transition sets a clear example for the wider tools and hardware industry and aligns with UN SDGs 12 (Responsible Consumption), 13 (Climate Action) and 15 (Life on Land).

This recognition highlights a shift in expectations across technical industries - where sustainability is now part of product quality, not an add-on.

Loures Municipal Council has implemented pioneering sustainability policies, which combine efficiency, innovation and environmental responsibility in their development strategy.
