You know those social media companies that are so busy working on their clients' pages that they severely neglect their own? Yep, that's us. We don't feel guilty about this - life happens, lockdowns happen (around 7 of them) and we've been so fortunate that our hard work has paid off over the last few years with our business being really busy that we haven't been able to commit time to our socials. But now, after engaging a few people to help us manage our workload... we're trying to make the change! 🙋🏾♀️ 🙋🏼♀️
So where do you start when your own social media pages have been all but dormant for a while and the IG algorithm is working hard to make you invisible?
Here are a few tips to get you started if you're in a similar position:
✨ Quality over Quantity - we live by this motto both online and offline. Do fewer posts, but make them count.
✨ Make sure each post has a strategic purpose
✨ Check if your content would make your readers 'care or share.'
✨ Try to stay consistent, if you can only manage 1 post a week, do that!
✨ Put your best face forward - if you are able and willing, show your face on your brand! This has been proven to increase engagement, as social media is social by name and social by nature - people like to see real people! The person who wrote this post however is extremely camera shy, so instead of having our faces on a video, please enjoy the one nice photo we have with each other being reused for the purposes of this post. 😆
As always - focus on servicing your real-life clients/customers ahead of everything else. There's no point having a whiz-bang social media presence if you're ignoring the people that have engaged with your business in the real world.
