Are you a small business owner who has experienced challenges due to COVID-19? Facebook has officially opened applications for its Small Business Grants Programme.

In Australia Facebook is offering approximately $3 million in grants to approximately 465 eligible small businesses. Each grant amounts to $6,400 AUD comprising of $4,000 in cash and $2,400 in optional ad credits to help during this difficult time.

Application criteria:
👉🏼 Be a for-profit company
👉🏼 Have between 2 and 50 employees as of 1 January 2020
👉🏼 Have been in business for over a year
👉🏼 Have experiences challenges from COVID-19
👉🏼 Be in a location where Facebook has offices in Australia: Sydney or Melbourne

Applications must be submitted by 22 September!

What the heck does that mean?⁠

Firstly, Shae Comms is growing, so referring to myself as a solo-preneur or freelancer doesn't feel right anymore...⁠

BUT...⁠

After my work experience days, I stopped aligning with the word "agency". It conjures up images of overworked, underpaid, uninspired employees. No work life balance. Being a small cog in a big machine, making a tiny difference.⁠

I've also heard countless stories from clients who have been left confused and out of pocket for services they never truly understood.⁠

REPOST ➡️ 📣 100% of S+L sales made between now and Monday will be donated to individuals affected by the bushfires in Australia, via a GoFundMe set up by Mark Thompson.⁠

Since early January Mark (AKA ) has been completing supply drop offs in the regions of the south coast of NSW including Sussex Inlet, Bendelong, and Conjola. He has seen first hand the damage these fires have caused. Mark is distributing much needed funds to people that are directly affected in these areas, focusing particularly on Conjola and Ulladulla.⁠
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁠
There is a need for those who have lost their homes, cars, businesses and livelihoods to receive money immediately. We want to help these individuals, so our donation is going to Mark, who will then distribute to those in need.⁠

We have shared more about our decision to donate to Mark's GoFundMe in our Stories. We urge you to support him - whether you shop with us or donate directly - and consider donating to the many other individuals who have been personally impacted by the devastation, or are working to get much needed supplies and funds into the hands of those who have been.⁠

I have noticed one recurring theme in my business lately...

the fear of change!

Although you could say starting a business at 21 is the epitome of "taking a chance", I'm actually quite afraid of taking risks and jumping head first into something new 😬 Especially when things are already going so well!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What "change" am I so afraid of? Right now it's hiring someone to help me manage my growing portfolio of utterly AMAZING clients 🥰✨ Letting go of the reigns a little 😰. Sacrificing a piece of my income to share it with someone else 😱. Trusting that person to be as passionate about the work as I am 🤔 Protecting myself and my clients from the risks associated with bringing on a new team member 🤯.

It's scary, but over the past couple of weeks I have started to accept that it is something I need to do 👊🏼 .

I'm making an effort to turn the anxious "yikes!" feeling into an excited "yay!" 🎉💃🏼.

My brain was already feeling pretty damn sparkly, but this is how I feel now after the incredible support and feedback I have had on the course post this yesterday!! 💡I am all about giving the "little guys" a choice, an option, an opportunity. I know because I am one and I understand the day to day issues and blocks you may face. In my experience, smaller businesses don't even consider PR as an option - it simply feels too out of reach, when it shouldn't!!
