At Ixcacao Chocolate, cacao is more than a crop—it is a way of life, a connection to Maya heritage, and a legacy being passed from one generation to the next. While exploring the Punta Gorda area, be sure to add Ixcacao’s immersive chocolate tour to your itinerary. From learning about traditional Maya cacao cultivation to experiencing the chocolate-making process firsthand, it offers a meaningful and delicious glimpse into Belize’s rich cultural heritage.

Peeking through the cloud cover and rising above the Caribbean Sea, tonight’s rare Blue Moon makes a magical appearance over Ambergris Caye. As the clouds drift by and the stars begin to shine, the night sky transforms into a spectacular display of natural beauty.

Despite its name, the Blue Moon won’t appear blue—it’s called a Blue Moon because it’s the second full moon in a single calendar month, a celestial event that only comes around every few years.

Fun fact: after tonight, the next calendar Blue Moon won’t occur until December 31, 2028.

The ancient Maya ballgame of Pok ta Pok took center stage on northern Ambergris Caye during a vibrant cultural festival showcasing the K’iinich Ahau team at the Eco-Museum Belize. Visitors experienced live demonstrations of the traditional sport, where players use only their hips, knees, elbows, and legs to move a solid rubber ball in a game deeply rooted in Maya history and spirituality.

As the sun set, the excitement continued with a dramatic nighttime fire-ball match. The day of festivities included traditional Mestizo food, artisan vendors, tours of the Eco Museum, and opportunities for guests to try the game themselves.

The event also served as a fundraiser supporting Belize’s team on their journey to the Pok Ta Pok Mundo Maya World Cup in Honduras, where they proudly captured the 2025 championship title.
