When Dawah, design and creativity come together.

Alhamdoulilah I was blessed to present on the creative industry in Istanbul.

In the presentation I explained the creative strategies Prophet Ibrahim (as) used in his calling people to Allah.

All the prophets before him called people to allah by speech, except Ibrahim (as), he used, for the first time, UX design (User Experience).

If you remember in the story, the Creative Prophet, while his people went out of town, he smashed all the idols they worshipped except the biggest one, then he hung the axe on the shoulder of it. When his people came back and saw their idols smash, they said “who smashed our idols??!!” He replied “the big one, ask him” they then said “you know they cannot speak” he then replied “Then how can you worship things that can neither speak or see. They can’t even protect themselves. Have you all lost your minds?”

They were silent, knowing that Ibrahim had made a valid point.

Allah teaches us to use all permissable methods to convey his message in the most effective ways, including creativity.

Now is the time our Ummah becomes creative!

I love this. Adding a new dimension to a framed picture. It brings it to life.

“How might we build a Masjid in Antarctica?”

We know that every country has its own style of masjid. They also use the materials that are generally available in their country. In some specific locations, such as villages, they are made of mud-brick, sticks and leaves.

So how might we build a masjid In Antarctica?

We made it using its most common resource, ICE!

What are your thoughts?

“The Masjid needs to be a fun place for children”

Why? Because we want children growing loving the Masjid. A place of worship.

I hear this a lot from people in the community but the reality is, for children, the playground allows them to play and enjoy themselves more freely than the local masjid.

Muslims love children growing up around the Masjid and to have fond memories of it too.
Practically though it tends to create a lot noise and disruption for the worshippers and the children sense that.

At the same time. Young children love playing in play grounds and often have beautiful memories of it.

With these two thoughts crossing paths, I asked: “How could we combine both of these together to achieve a good solution for both?”

Then I thought “why not create a Masjid-inspired playground?!”

Imagine the fun having full playful control of a ‘masjid’ and exploring every bit of it without getting told off or to be quiet.

Imagine… Instead of a ladder with a slide. It’s a minbar that children go up and then slide down.

Imagine… A minaret with a spiral staircase that has a megaphone where kids can call athan and sing and look through binoculars.

Imagine… lines on the ground for playing games but it looks like the prayer lines in the masjid carpet.

Basically an immersive experience of a masjid in the world of fun, play and imagination for children.

So I took to my trusty AI tool and got to work to see how this could look.

The result…

A place that has all the visual attributes of a Masjid in a 100% play based environment where every child can explore and have fun and no worshippers are disturbed.

Imagine this in the playground of every Islamic school around the world, every islamic centre, every Masjid, in every Muslim country, in their locals parks etc

Would you like your child to have fun in their ‘Masjid’?

What do you think?

What country would you like to see this in?
