A little love letter to my tiny but mighty Instagram committee 😂

I think there’s so much pressure as a small business owner to show up online all the time that it’s easy to forget we’re also, you know… running actual businesses.

Most days I’m deep in client projects, designing, answering emails, making revisions and trying to keep all the plates spinning. Social media often gets squeezed into whatever time is left.

Some posts do well. Some absolutely disappear into the Instagram void. And honestly, I’m learning not to take either too seriously.

I’m just really grateful for the people who take a second to like, comment or follow along with what I’m creating. Whether there are 23 of you or 230, it genuinely means a lot.

So thank you for being here and cheering on my little corner of the internet 🤍

And if you’re also trying to run a business while somehow becoming a part-time content creator, this is your reminder that you’re definitely not the only one 😂

From a feeling → to a creative direction

Before I touch a logo, choose a font or start thinking about colours, I always come back to one thing: how should this brand feel?

For my fictional Dandenong Ranges w**e bar, I wanted to capture everything that inspired this project in the first place. Feeling calm, cosy, nostalgic, connected to nature, but still considered and a little unexpected.

The moodboard gives me something to keep coming back to as I start making actual design decisions.

A brand shouldn’t just look good, there should be a reason behind why it looks the way it does.

Next up… time to start designing 👀🍷

I’M CREATING A W**E BAR 🍷

Okay… so not a real one 😂

After my weekend in the Dandenong Ranges, I wanted to see what would happen if I took the feeling of a place and turned it into an entire brand.

So that’s exactly what I’m doing.

Over the next few weeks, I’ll be taking this idea from absolutely nothing to a complete brand. Creative direction, visual identity, custom print designs and eventually, a website.

And I’m sharing the whole process along the way including the messy bits before everything starts looking pretty 👀

First step: figuring out what this w**e bar should actually look and feel like.

There’s something about getting away from your usual surroundings that makes you notice things differently 🌿

My weekend in the Dandenong Ranges left me feeling calm, cosy, inspired and a little nostalgic.

The mist through the trees. Old buildings tucked amongst the greenery. Warm little spaces. Slow mornings.

That feeling of being somewhere that makes you want to stay just a little bit longer.

And because my brain apparently can’t experience a place without turning it into a creative project 😂, I started thinking…

What would it look like if I turned this feeling into a brand?

That’s exactly what I’m going to find out.

A few weeks ago I spent a couple of days in the Dandenong Ranges and came home feeling incredibly inspired.

So naturally… I’ve decided to turn that inspiration into an entire fictional business 😂
