Mat and I have collaborated on a few Indigenous art projects and have become good friends since moving to Muswellbrook. So nice to see a local artist get a cool local gig like this one. Good job Mat.

We're thrilled to share that The Blue Heeler Film Festival is teaming up with local artist Mat Stair, a proud Wanaruah Man, for our graphic design partnership. Mat's artwork will take centre stage in shaping the style and design of this year's festival branding, celebrating the 2024 theme 'country'.

Mat's Artist statement about the project -

Ive had a passion for Indigenous art since year 9 in High School. And from this I’ve continuously developed my own style sand interpretation using different mediums.

How times and our young ones evolve, I'm on a mission to pass on expressions of our cultures art where I can.

It has been such a privilege to be part of a project in the community I was born and bred in.

In this piece I've done it has several elements of country, the Blue Heeler Film Festival represented by a gathering/meeting place in the centre and the ideas and creativity from the film makers flowing through the festival represented by the river. A little design element that is also in there in the S shape versions loosely depicts the outline and image of an old school film reel.

Upper Hunter Youth Services is a local not-for-profit that engages with, supports and empowers young people in the Upper Hunter region via evidence-based youth programs and family support services.

Having been a dedicated volunteer over the past few years, I'm thrilled to announce my recent role as a marketing consultant for this incredible organisation.

Today marks the launch of their brand new website, a significant step in their ongoing rebrand journey. It's a project close to my heart, and I'm immensely proud to be part of it.

If you know a young person aged 10-18 who could benefit from support or fantastic youth programs, reach out to Upper Hunter Youth Services.

I was so happy to see these beautiful kids all dressed up in their new shirts performing at the Richard Gill School and Upper Hunter Voices student concert tonight. The singing was really wonderful and the children were all so happy and vibrant. Samantha Cobcroft you are doing an amazing job with them. It was so inspiring to see you with them - the passion you have is infectious. Im so pleased to be part of such a wonderful community initiative.

I had the pleasure of attending yet another successful Great Cattle Dog Muster in Muswellbrook over the weekend. A big shoutout to the dedicated organisers for their tremendous efforts in making this a significant regional event.

In the photo, you can spot me volunteering at the Upper Hunter Country Tourism stand, proudly distributing the first edition of their bi-annual magazine. I'm thrilled to have played a part in this journey, providing local tourism operators with advertisement design services when needed. The magazine has turned out brilliantly, setting the stage for even more exciting things to come for the organisation - and local tourism.
