Australian Mohair Marketing Australia's premier broker for the Australian mohair industry. As an organisation, AMMO strives to maximise value to Australia's Mohair Producers.

Established in 1978, AMMO was created by mohair producers, to benefit mohair producers in Australia. Our role is to gather mohair from Australian producers, class and sort to Australian Standards, pool the fibre and offer the product by auction up to four times per year to Australian and overseas buyers.

The Australian mohair sale held on 15 September 2026 delivered an exceptionally strong result, with 130 bales offered and 100% sold.
Competition in the auction room was very positive, with buyers bidding actively against each other, particularly for the finer segment of the market. This strong competition resulted in prices trending **well above the Cape Mohair market in ZAR**.
The top price of R790.10/kg for 23.6 micron was approximately 20% above the Cape Summer Kid indicator of R658.32/kg, while a 24.0 micron lot achieved R780/kg.
Both RMS-certified and non-RMS mohair were offered, providing buyers with a good range of quality and certification options. The active participation from buyers across the offering contributed significantly to the exceptionally strong prices achieved.
Overall, the sale demonstrated very healthy demand for quality fine mohair, with strong buyer competition driving prices to levels significantly above the prevailing Cape market. More details to follow.

Buyers have agreed to a private auction on 15th September 2026 at 9am South African time.
We will offer observer status via video link to producers who have fibre on auction.
