It’s been a while since I posted last but we’ve been a little preoccupied! We welcomed Shiloh Jarrah Westwood to our family after the shortest labour we’ve had. Nic did the most amazing job in preparation and delivery of this wonderful little girl and Shiloh has been an angel ever sincešŸ˜šŸ˜ Her older brothers are so excited to have her with us! Cuddles all round!

THIS IS THE LIFE.

A clear blue sky paired with cool, refreshing water.

The sun radiating that heat that nips at your skin.

Surrounded by family and close friends.

The kids entertaining themselves (mostly).

Music playing the whole day and cold drinks in the esky.

This is what I work for. These precious moments.

What is your reason?

What is your motivation?

Why do you put up with all you do?

My gorgeous wife and these three boys are my main reason why.

The long hours, the endless traffic, the aching body and bloodied knuckles have all been for them.

I knew early that wanted to be a dad. I knew I wanted to provide for my family and give them everything I wished I had as a kid but the more I look at it, the more I realise I wish I had more... TIME.

My mum worked very hard and did all she could to provide for the four of us kids. Mum was a teacher and had endless small business passions that she tried to help us get ahead.

Dad was a travelling speaker and would jet around the world to speak at different schools and institutions, often being gone for weeks at a time helping bring direction to, and educate thousands of people over 30+ years.

I rarely found myself going without as a kid but looking back I think my life would have been different if my parents were around more, so I'm working on something new to make that happen in my own life.

We will make memories, have adventures, make new friends, explore, discover new places and live life the best way we can!

- Maintenance -

We are living in our caravan currently and getting used to what we like and what we want to change and getting it optimised for our trip.

One thing I didn’t want to change was this water pump. Not because it’s hard, or because it’s awkward, or even because it cost me $150 and I have to install it myself.

- I didn’t want to change it because it was just another thing to pay for and another thing to do today -

But you know what? To get the best out of the Jayco it was something that had to be changed. And it got me thinking…

When was the last time I checked MYSELF for things that need changing?

At this point in my life I’m beginning to realise there are many things in my day to day that could do with a change. Exercise - diet - communication - habits.

We are creatures of habit and we naturally go for what is easiest, what has the least amount of friction and what will, in the short term, cost us less.

In my mental health battle it was the little things I left for the next day, then the next day, then the next day, that kept me with my head barely above water.

I didn’t realise what it was cost me UNTIL IT WAS TOO LATE.

What can you change today that will help you ā€˜cash in’ tomorrow, and not make you pay in the long term??

Do you ever feel like this!?

Tonight is our first night in our caravan!

But no, we aren’t living it up beachside and we haven’t started our journey just yet.

Transition.

This can be a very hard time, for everyone.

It can be full of uncertainty, self doubt, anxiety and a whole lot of fear.

You rarely feel like you’re making progress and you can forget crushing it all together.

But it can be such a great opportunity to challenge your mindsets, challenge your abilities and to build up our resilience to many things we haven’t encountered before.

I am in this period of life now.

Moving away from the only home I’ve had since we’ve been married and in to a caravan. With three boys under 6😬

Slowly transitioning out of comfortable, stable trade job and in to something completely new and so far removed from what I’ve lived, it’s a little scary.

It’s also a lot of hard work but there is a bright light at the end of the tunnel and it looks like the life I’ve always wanted…

Is there light at the end of your tunnel? What does it look like for you?

It’s a new day.

It’s a new opportunity.

Take the steps you need today to improve.
Your mindset.

Your attitude.

Your health.

Your peace.

Your perspective.

Your self worth.

YOU are your most valuable asset. Invest in yourself so you can invest in others

Pride in your work is key to satisfaction in your work. If you half ass your work ethic, you get half assed results. Remember that you may be employed by someone BUT you work for yourself. Make the decision every day to work on yourself and take the steps to become the person you want to be.
