Shop local, support local 💝
"SHOP LOCAL THIS CHRISTMAS" - But what does it really mean? When you spend money locally - yes it might cost more - but think of it like this....When you buy one jar of our relish for $12, here’s what actually happens to your money:
$1.20
Straight to Mr Tax Man (GST — unavoidable, but at least it stays in Australia).
$0.52 – Beetroot
Grown by Mr Cole and his family in Barooga. Real people. Real dirt. Real farms.
$0.35 – Granny Smith Apples
Sourced from various Cobram growers — proper local fruit, not imported or modified to go in a jar/tin.
$0.45 – Onions
Always from local growers across the region, even if the names change, the paddocks don’t.
Included in that delivery and distribution - thanks Manto Produce
$0.45 – Sundries
Sugar, spices and all things nice — all purchased directly from our local supermarkets, keeping those tills ringing. Ritchies Numurkah
$0.30 – The Label
Printed by Nathalia Printers. A small-town business keeping local stories on local shelves. Nathalia Printers
$0.85 – Jar + Lid
Probably made overseas (let’s be real), but bought through an Australian-owned, family-run supplier. Keeping business in Australia where we can. Plasdene Glass-Pak
$0.08 – Power + Gas
Yes, it’s small — but it’s Australian power companies and our local bottled gas depot.
Even the tiny bits stay close to home.
And then the part we’re proud of:
Your purchase contributes towards the wages of three locals.
Jamie & Gareth — the hardworking, handsome boys behind The Olde Creamery. Kim — our new team member and a local legend in her own right. Your jar helps keep real people employed on a real little farm in Numurkah.
If you grab a jar through one of our local retailers, around 30–35% of the sale goes to supporting their small business too. Casual Step, Manto Produce, Ritchies Numurkah, Finley Bakery, The Chocolate Apple Factory Alowyn Gardens & Nursery Numurkah Community Learning Centre Inc Barooga Hotel The Shed.
When you shop local, your money doesn’t disappear —
it circles right back into the community you live in.
