I am so pumped after a very informative meeting with Rochelle from who has given me some amazing tips on marketing for my business online.

Someone asked me once what is my favourite font is as a designer. To me, this was a question that could have 100 different answers depending on what I am doing and the brief - but ultimately it is the script fonts that will always have my heart. ⁠

Script fonts inspire the imagination and creativity – they spark an emotional connection. Script fonts in branding design is very popular for the creative industries, personal brands and self care. (have you ever seen a bank with a script typeface logo? – probably not!)⁠

Script fonts are best used sparingly and chosen carefully as they can often become difficult to read en-masse. Paired with another plainer style typeface is often best to offer some contrast. I kept the branding for Sealed by Steph minimal as a result. The script font here has made her brand very personal because above all, her service is to sell herself as a celebrant who makes a personal connection with the couples she marries!⁠

I am so excited that so many of my clients new and old are working on their passion projects! Some of the ideas I am hearing are incredible and I love that I am involved in making it a reality!⁠

I have been getting enquiries about custom mailers and gift boxes and the short answer is yes, I can design and print these babies for you!⁠

The Fleurs D'Amour range of wedding veils, jewellery and adornments campaign for will be launching early next year and it is going to be absolutely stunning!⁠

As a designer, I love nothing more than white space. As the overused phrase goes 'less is more' and in design this is the number one goal. ⁠

Giving your branding space to breathe really leaves a lasting impression and shows the ultimate sophistication. I often think to myself when designing about not what more can be added, but what else can be taken away?⁠

If I am really honest, being a business owner really scares me sometimes. I am solely responsible for all my income, loss and judgements (good and bad). There is no team behind me to tell me - 'that's a bad idea' 'you need to focus more on xyz' I am making this all up, on my own, as I go.

I find myself sometimes paralysed - I hide behind my work and immerse myself in other people's projects - often ignoring my own because that is the easy option.

However growth does not come from living inside your comfort zone. So I am learning to just dive in and go for it! Splitting my business in two to start this one, is one leap I am grateful I have taken - I wanted more design and branding work and fear was stopping me. Now I am putting it out there and attracting some great new clients!

Never underestimate the power of good photography. Photography, can make or break a brand.

All visuals associated with your business say something about you. One of the most valuable lessons I learned at uni when studying Design is that you only have 3 seconds to capture the attention of your audience and get a message across. In 3 seconds, your audience have decided whether to keep looking, reading or move on.

In 3 seconds, these are the biggest impacts in holding the attention of your audience.

Second 1. Visuals
By having lacklustre photos and branding, it is very difficult to hold the attention of your audience. Visuals need to be in focus, visually appealing and tell a story to create interest.

Second 2. Messaging
Reality - people are lazy and don't like reading! Your message needs to be short, sharp and simple. Whether your message is told visually or with text (copy) it needs to be to the point. Avoid long winded paragraphs. If the main message cannot be told in 3 seconds or in your headings - you can say goodbye to your audience.

Second 3. Call to action
You need to invite your audience to take action - whether it is to 'find out more', contact you or buy. You need to tell them what you want them to do. Without a call to action, your audience can just keep passively scrolling and not remember your message.

So - when you are scrolling your feed now and look at what pops into your feed next - take note of what you notice in 3 seconds. Were you invited to find out more or take action? Did you want to? What was your impression after only 3 seconds?
