Lindsay’s presentation on full-colour 3D printing and AI colour 3D file generation (delivered live online this morning) can now be viewed on the New Tracks Live YouTube channel as the link below. The talk was the second one in the episode and starts at 46:30. Have a coffee ready with you because his segment went for 45 minutes! (Which for an old teacher counts as just getting started.🤓)

Here are some more experiments with colour 3D figures created from 2D photos. These ones are of the stars of a certain famous spy movie franchise (plus a glamorous B**d Girl because there always seemed to be one around).

Does anyone want to hazard a guess on the actors represented here? (Hint: one is doubling up…) These are printed at 1:43 scale, averaging 4cm tall.

We have been experimenting with creating scale figure sets for overseas markets. This first set is intended for model railroaders in the USA and represents modern Appalachian coal miners. The photos show them 3D-printed in full colour (NOT painted) in 1:48 O scale, and 1:87 HO scale.
We think they capture the ‘end of shift’ vibe for these hard-working folk pretty well.

There’s also a single 1940’s African-American coal miner figure which illustrates the difference in the clothing and gear used 80 years ago. Again printed in O and HO scales, he looks exhausted as he trudges home.

An animated version of our ‘North v South’ chess set, made by Discord as a promotion for Meshy 6, the AI program we used to make the models. Pity about the misspelling of ‘steel’, but it makes the set look great!

And now the second lot of iPhone-scanned food-based fridge magnets and badges. These are iconic Australian Arnott’s biscuits: the Iced VoVo, Hundreds and Thousands, and Tic Toc; plus a Coles Christmas special: the red & green M&Ms chocolate chip cookie.

We’ve been experimenting with iPhone scanning (using the excellent KIRI Engine app) combined with full-colour polyjet printing on our Stratasys J55 Prime in order to create quirky badges and fridge magnets which we’ll share over a few posts. First up are the fruity ones - slices of citrus, apple & pear in mouthwatering real colour!
Feedback welcome. 😀
