NEW FEATURE: How to schedule posts on Instagram from Creator Studio

First you will have to connect your Instagram account to your Creator Studio. After that, it is as straight forward as you could imagine.

The publishing and scheduling feature works exactly like what you may be used to on third-party platforms like Buffer or HootSuite:

1. Choose content from your computer or directly from your page
2. Crop your image within the tool if necessary
3. Write your caption and add the location (optional)
4. Choose “Schedule” by clicking on the arrow on the right of the blue “Publish” button
5. Choose a date and time

If you do everything right, your post will be published on your Instagram account at the date and time chosen, without any further action required.

Twitter Canada is beginning its test of a radical and controversial change to its service with the launch of a new “Hide Replies” feature. Effectively, this option gives users the ability to wrestle back control over a conversation they’ve started by hiding any replies they feel aren’t worthy contributions — for example, replies that are irrelevant or outright offensive.

One of the problems with Twitter — and with many social networks, for that matter — is that an otherwise healthy conversation can easily be disrupted by a single individual or a small number of people who don’t contribute in a positive fashion. They come into a thread to start drama or they make inappropriate, rude or even hateful remarks.

"Instagram users in Australia will no longer be able to see how many likes a post has a received under trial changes to “remove pressure” on the digital platform’s users.

Instagram will on Thursday begin rolling out the trial update removing the total number of likes on photos and viewings of videos on user feeds and profiles, and permalink pages.

Users will still be able to see a list of likes on their posts, just not the overall number."

Facebook to make conversations more meaningful by ranking comments

Facebook says:
"To improve relevance and quality, we’ll start showing comments on public posts more prominently when:

The comments have interactions from the Page or person who originally posted; or
The comments or reactions are from friends of the person who posted.
We will continue to take other signals into account so we do not prominently show low-quality comments, even if they are from the person who made the original post or their friends"

So how does Facebook decide which order to show your comments in specifically? Well it depends.

If your Page has a lot of followers, Facebook automatically switches on 'Comment Ranking', which, as noted, will work to highlight the most engaging comments. This can also be switched on for Pages with few followers, but it's normally not necessary, as they won't be seeing high comment volume overall.

Page owners and admins can still hide and delete comments as preferred.

"In case you missed it, in a single blog post last month Mark Zuckerberg quietly upended the world of social media. Gone (or nearly so) is the quaint idea of social media as a public broadcast channel or "town square" — a way for anyone to reach a mass audience, start a dialogue and change the world. It was an inspiring vision, to be sure, but one undone by trolls and data mining, invasive ads, Russian interference and addictive algorithms.

The big takeaway for brands is that the rules, both written and unwritten, of social media are changing. The viral, broadcast model — filled with catchy posts, likes and comments, and big followings — is being replaced by a more personal and more earnest vision of social connection. These changes won’t happen overnight, but companies hoping to keep pace need to begin adjusting their strategies now to account for a post-social, messaging-based future. But as much as some things change, others stay the same. Engaging content, personal attention and the ability to deliver real value to users will be just as important as ever, if not more so, in the years ahead.

2) Every social media platform is unique, use it in ways compatible with its purpose.
Nothing is more cringe-worthy than seeing an inappropriate joke. Every social media platform is clearly demarcated. What is appropriate for one platform is unsuited for another. Experts suggest distinguishing between personal and professional social media use and using different platforms for these different uses.

3) Be consistent and persistent in what you post and share about and when.
One study of 1.6 million social media posts found that 99% get no engagement whatsoever. The key to getting people to engage with your content is to do two things: (a) post consistently on the same topics over a lengthy period, and (b) be persistent, without being discouraged when your posts receive no engagement.
