Almost half of US consumers have now used TikTok as a search engine. Adobe's latest research puts the figure at 49% in 2026, up from 41% two years earlier (Adobe Express, February 2026).
People haven't stopped using Google, and the same study found most Gen Z users still prefer it. What's changed is that TikTok and Instagram have become part of how people look for products, recommendations and answers, which means your social content can be found through search as well as through the feed.
The good news is that social SEO fits into the content you're already making. Writing captions around the questions people actually ask, saying your key topic out loud in your videos and using on-screen text to back it up can all make your posts easier to find.
If your social content is only built for engagement, it's worth checking your analytics to see how much of your reach is already coming from search.
