“Hi, I’m Liz and I’m a blank canvas!”

If you are like Liz and have a yearning to create your inner canvas, come and join me in my Wilston Studio for a Structured Clay Play Workshop. I’ll show you how to coax out your inner child. My intention is to create a relaxed environment whereby I can show you how to soothe your mind through hand building objects with clay.

Together we will create clay pieces which, once fully dried, I will bisque fire* ready for you to glaze.

Everything you need will be available. Homemade morning tea and lunch is provided. My Studio is 7km north from the Brisbane CBD with ample street parking. High school students welcome (10% discount).

Other workshops include glazing and specific individual projects are offered. If you feel stressed, anxious, can’t sleep, then this may be something to try to assist you to relax. Please drop me message so we can discuss.

This will be my last post in Studio e!

Hi, my name is Caroline Jones.

I am an Expressionist Figurative Sculptural Artist seeking to depict not objective reality, but rather the subjective emotions and responses that events arouse within myself. I graduated from the Queensland College of Art with a Diploma of Arts (Fine Art, Printmaking) and a Certificate in Commercial Art (Graphic Design).

For the past 22 years I’ve worked alongside my husband, Bradley, in our Brisbane Studio, as Senior Designer and Account Manager. I’ve had the pleasure of working with some wonderful clients! But...my passion is from my initial study as a Fine Art student. My mother and father encouraged me to apply to art school as a young 17 year old. I now have the opportunity to move from the digital world to the real world. I cannot wait. Don’t panic! Bradley will continue to provide all your design requirements. He is a creative and ambitious designer and specializes in cycling apparel!

I have been creating pieces for the last 3 years, playing, learning technique, form, shape and experimenting. I’ve held my first exhibition and sold works.

My chosen medium is clay. I enjoy being led by its organic state, as well as its tactility, beauty, and subjectivity...often conveying things I can never talk about. My goal is to call upon a past experience or emotion, where my audience will tell me what they see and feel, rather than asking what it means.

I have purchased a Skutt Kiln and am excited to be offering workshops.

Head on over to my new Instagram Account caroline_jones_fine_artist to view my artwork and find information about my up coming workshops in clay hand building on offer. I am currently working on it so stay tuned! In time I shall have a separate Facebook Account. I look forward to sharing my experiences with you and showing you the joy of clay.

How do you put a price tag on art?

Three years ago I was told over the phone “We no longer require your services”. I was employed through a Brisbane Agency to work at a Northside Company as a Graphic Designer, assisting a Senior Designer. I call this period of my career “The School of Hard Knocks”. Whereby Casual employment does not entitle privileges or loyalty.

In order to progress, first you must fail.

I was unemployed and forced to get creative.

I titled myself as “Gap Year”, packed up my corporate wardrobe of 30 years, gave my iMac to my daughter, bought a bag of clay, tools, and set myself up on my deck and taught myself how to sculpt. “But how did you earn?” Friends asked. I did whatever was necessary to get me to this point. I refused assistance. Let’s call that “The Douglas Stubborn Gene”.

At first, failure sucked. But now I am grateful for it. Because it forced me to pursue my desire to complete my Fine Art career.

On Saturday I delivered my first batch of sculptures to Aspire Gallery, Paddington. 10 sculptures with 10 stories.

I invite you to view to my exhibition of “Gap Year Sculptures on a Shoestring Budget”.

About this exhibition:

“Reflections” ~ features five emerging Australian artists - Caroline Jones, Carolyn Farbach, Jane Hoggard, Ross Leondiou, and Sue Gordon. Each artist was awarded a position in the exhibition through Aspire Gallery’s emerging artist competitions over the past twelve months. Their selection reflects each artists’ success so far in their artistic career whilst also acknowledging their future potential.

The Exhibition runs from 28 August - 7 September, Wednesdays - Saturdays. All are invited to attend the Opening Night on Saturday 31 August, 4:30 - 6:30pm.

“REFLECTIONS”
AN EMERGING ARTIST EXHIBITION

We often find that life gives us many topics to reflect on, but very little time to do so. The Exhibition of five emerging Australian artists - Caroline Jones, Carolyn Farbach, Jane Hoggard, Ross Leondiou, and Sue Gordon – provides not only the opportunity but the incentive to do so.

On the theme, 'Reflections':

“Your perception of me is a reflection of you; my reaction to you is an awareness of me.” ~ Bobbi Chegwyn.

In this exhibition, I have re-created my own past experiences through clay sculptures to highlight the perceptions others can place on you and the truth that often lie underneath these views.

‘Reflections’ is on at Aspire Gallery, Paddington, Wednesdays – Saturdays, 10:30am – 4:30pm, 28 August to 7 September 2019.

The artists invite the public to attend the opening night on Saturday 31 August 2019 from 4:30pm to 6:30pm. More information on the exhibition can be found at:

|| “The Social Butterfly” || Clay Medium ||

Although the life of the party, the social butterfly is innately lonely. She compensates for feelings of insecurity with her gift of gab and humor. She has many acquaintances but few real friends. She keeps her conversations simple because deeper dialogues may expose her identity. She won’t allow her feelings to be prized open, that would only mean hurt.

The studio has been busy creating custom ordered illustrations. A trip to Melbourne in August inspired incentive to pick up pencils and brush pens and draw again. Old school! Orders include illustrations that have been framed and printed on Spinnerella tees.

If you want something that's not an on-line purchase that everybody has, why not brief our artist, Caroline, for your custom design? It's very affordable. Support local! We are proud to be an Australian company!

Hi! Does a Custom Tee appeal to you?

A few friends asked for this image on a Spinnerella Tee. I have decided to go with the original loose illustration that I have drawn (as advised by my cool adult son who insists that this is all the GO) rather than a vector version. So if you'd like to see it printed black on your choice of coloured slim fit tee, please indicate below and email your order to [email protected]

I would like to place a group order for these tees, so please email me asap so I can let you know how to make your payment prior to production.

Not interested in this illustration? Then drop me an email with what you'd like on your one-off custom illustrated tee. No job too small. Clubs, schools, sports functions... If you would like your child's illustration printed on a tee for mum or dads Chrissy pressie then you'd better get in quick!

Please allow 10 working days for production, with additional time required for customs. No minimum order required. Delivery within Brisbane, or save your delivery fee and collect from Wilston (Newmarket).

Cheers!
