Meet Keira-Jayne, a 13-year-old student at the Cecil Andrews Girls Academy in Noongar Country who has drawn on her own experience of trauma and the power of resilience to stay strong in the face of adversity in her artwork recently exhibited at the Bunbury Regional Art Gallery.

In her painting, the whale shark represents trauma, and the turtle her sweet and innocent self who focuses to remain resilient and strong as she travels through difficult times.

She shares a message of hope in her words ‘There is always a way out of the dark, scary surroundings.’ We hope that these words will give us all comfort as we remain resilient after a dark and scary year and look forward to better times in 2021.

We feel so fortunate to welcome the talented team at Designlogic to the Girls Academy family.

Led by sister and brother Jayne Walsh and Berenger Playford, this creative company uses visual design and storytelling to help clients overcome communication challenges, build their brand and become better corporate citizens. And they are certainly walking the talk.

As NAIDOC Week draws to a close, we’d like to share a story that literally brings tears to our eyes. Recently, we have had the opportunity to get to know the team at Girls Academy.

Girls Academy is a not for profit organisation that champions change for girls in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities around Australia. Their work equips girls with the tools they need to engage in their education, achieve their goals and change their communities.

We are proud to have the honour of partnering with Girls Academy offering our services pro bono to help them further their stories and drive outcomes for the girls in their care.

For us, this is literally something dreams are made of and we are looking forward to sharing our journey together in the coming year.
