We went through a lot of golds to get to this one. Sometime between our last use of gold ink in the 'Golden Icicles' print in our 'In Giro' series and this print –– the formula for the Unico gold ink changed 😭. The new ones didn't have the opaqueness or golden goodness we were after. But! We managed to track down a supplier across town who still had a jar of the old gold lurking in the back of a shelf. Phew! 🤩 Printed , Amsterdam.

'Golden' is a 2 colour silkscreen print that recollects our 2015 travels in Myanmar. The detail on the weave pattern was pretty adventurous, but we got it! More pics on our website.

What can we say? We love wiggly lines, video 🕳️ game 🕳️ references and flannelette shirts. 'Wherever the Warpholes Take You' is a folded silkscreen print which traced our travel and printing adventures of 2013.

When invites you to make a print together at Kees Maas Zeefdruk in Amsterdam and says it should be big (A0), you jump at the chance to learn from this silkscreen master. It's the only print of this scale we've ever made – for a good reason, printing at A0 is hard! Aside from Harmen's expertise in pulling off this print, his extra long arms were needed when Mon's not-so-long arms couldn't stretch to carry the paper. 'The Snake' was inspired by our travels through Asia in 2013 during the Lunar New Year. More than 50 🐍 are hidden throughout this print to commemorate the Year of the Snake – see if you can 👀 them all.

We have some of these prints available for purchase – DM us if you are keen.

Cam printed the majority of the ‘Fountain Fountain’ series with alleged fractured ribs. We say alleged only because this was not confirmed by a doctor. There was no time! There was printing to be done! We had run out of ink, you see. So Cam went on a solo mission across Utrecht to procure said silkscreen ink and went a-over his handlebars when he hit a spot of gravel fangin’ it around a corner. So he pushed through the pain to print this series. Silkscreen printing can be physically demanding. For all the time and slow-detail we put into our work in the interim, the urgency of actually screen printing is something you can’t avoid. Especially when working with split-fountains in a hot second floor studio! We’re super proud of the effort and outcomes of this residency at Kapitaal, Utrecht.

Not pictured: our brains exploding with working out how to transition from colour to colour across the tiers of ‘Fountain Fountain’ so that each tier connects seamlessly. 😮‍💨🤯 These test sheets were critical for us to work out our colour combinations and practice the split-fountain technique. The Daft Punk ‘Random Access Memories’ album was the soundtrack to this series so just know that was also blowing our collective minds at the time.

Split-fountain and colour development work for our ‘Fountain Fountain’ series completed at Kapitaal, Utrecht in 2013.

Fun facts about the ‘Rocce e Fiori’ silkscreen prints:
1. The burnt red colour found in ‘Rocce’ inspired the wall colour of our studio bathroom (pictured).
2. Each print uses the exact same shapes on the same vertical plane; they shift horizontally.
3. We BYO’d chopsticks for the colour mixing – they were procured (mostly) from Asian Imbus in Hamburg, which we probably frequented too much at the time.

Printed at Frappanter Druck in Hamburg. More pics of these beauties on our website —> designandother.com.au

An expression of gratitude, expressing greater gratitude than danke alone. It is the slam dunk of thank you’s if you will.

'In Giro' is a giant postcard series of some of our favourite cities around the world. Each of the seven limited edition silkscreen prints merges two distinctly personal recollections of a city, many of them food memories, which checks for us 👅

Printed , Amsterdam as part of a 3-week residency, where we had the opportunity to learn from and draw inspiration from , who was printing posters at AGA at the time. Our first encounter with screen printing together was unbelievable and drove us to take on more projects to further understand the medium of silkscreen printing.

'In Giro' showed at The Passage Gallery, Amsterdams Grafisch Atelier (AGA), in Amsterdam at the conclusion of our residency in 2011 and then at in Thornbury (Australia) in March 2012.

Check out more pics of making 'In Giro' on our website.

Hi, hello, it's been a while. We took a little break from D&O projects to work on another side project - creating a couple of one-off unique, handmade, and often colourful little kiddos! We're now a family of four living in the creative community of Kyneton, Australia.

We've got some new projects in the making, which we're excited to share. In the meantime, we thought it would be fun to take a stroll down memory lane and revisit our past projects. So stay tuned for that!

We've refreshed our website too—it's now in HD glory! Check it out at designandother.com.au

invited us to illustrate one of ten covers for the 10th Anniversary program! Our design features one of Melbourne’s iconic buildings – Collingwood Arts Precinct. We can’t wait to peak into some buildings 29-30 July! 👀Program avail

There is eclectic beauty in the dilapidated building that sits on Johnston Street in Collingwood; the symmetry of the entrance, it’s many windows, and the conflicting sections of brickwork. It lies solidly on the hill, a dormant beast hungry for creative combustion. Keith Haring’s iconic mural adorns one side of the building, brought back to life recently, as vivid and engaging as it was in 1984. Reimagining one of the most visceral elements of Haring’s mural – the caterpillar – our illustration celebrates the impending creative revival of this wonderfully eccentric space.
