hundreds of opinions.

to celebrate the first birthday of Excessive Consumption, I’ve turned a year of newsletters into a digital archive of branding, tourism, internet culture, hospitality, politics and assorted brain rot as seen through the eyes of someone so chronically online that their screen time report qualifies as a millennial cry for help.

people keep asking me what the strategy is behind the newsletter.

unfortunately the answer appears to be: having opinions, reading things properly, and sending emails like it’s 2009 👩🏼‍💻

no “growth funnel”
no “10x engagement framework”
no “nurture sequence”

just regular old excessive consumption and the occasional existential spiral about culture, media and the internet.

We’re drawing The 100 Club THIS Thursday May 14th LIVE right here on Instagram at 10am so it’s time to talk about PRIZES💥

Because….the prize pool is slightly ridiculous.

What started as “maybe I can pull together a few prizes for a charity raffle” somehow turned into 78 businesses, brands and bloody great humans saying YES - helping raise $10,000 for in just over 2.5 hours 🤯

Wine.
Dining.
Beauty.
Fashion.
Photography.
Experiences.
Homewares.
Fuel cards.
Custom cabinetry.
Landscaping.
Farm stays.
Event tickets.
A literal YEAR of spray tans.

The list goes on (and on…and on) and I just literally cannot tag everyone or say thank you enough 🙌🏼

that’s showbiz, baby 💋

extraordinarily grateful to for inviting this former theatre kid to be part of their incredible production of the Rocky Horror Show.

community theatre - and groups like Orange Theatre Company - produce shows, sure.

but more importantly, they produce people.

confident, expressive, creative, clever, collaborative people.

people who know how to take up space without apologising for it.

for so many of us, it becomes the first place we’re allowed to be loud, weird, dramatic, emotional, ambitious and fully ourselves - and it was an absolute honour to share the stage with them this weekend.

special mention to for being a wonderful partner in crime, co-star, and genuinely great sport - this kind of visible support and representation from our leaders matters deeply for our creative and q***r communities.

chookas to the entire cast and crew for the remainder of the season - Rocky Horror is on until May 23rd - go buy tix!!

we’re hitting the road for two workshops on branding, content, marketing, AI and how to work smarter (not harder) to stay vaguely relevant on the internet without wanting to throw your phone into a dam.

expect practical advice, honest opinions, a few hot takes and at least one moment where we accidentally roast ourselves (or eachother) 🤣

no hashtags.
no amount of boosting can save forgettable content.
no perfectly packaged strategy doc.

just: “lol look at this”

if your content isn’t being shared when you’re not in the room then it’s not working as hard as you think it is.

relevance drives reach. not the other way around.
