The Australian Banking Association is urging customers to manually update Eftpos cards in digital wallets to avoid payment issues on January 1.

The ABA says an automatic update is being rolled out to the almost 20 million Eftpos cards on digital wallets, including Apple Pay, Google Pay and Samsung Pay.

About 60,000 cards will not be updated automatically.

To make sure payments can still be made from the start of 2025, everyone with a digital debit card added before July 2023 needs to delete and then re-add their Eftpos/debit card to their digital wallet.

Most Eftpos users have likely received an email from their bank asking them to do this.

Unable to access the Internet or see your web page? If there's been bad weather, it often affects communications. Step 1: check your Internet router cables are plugged in firmly. Turn your router off for 10 seconds and on again, then wait a few minutes for connection to reset. This is a good idea to do once in a while, especially after storms. Step 2: Still no access? Storm season is coming! Don't forget to take an off-machine backup of your data, and unplug your devices from power and phone lines when storms are approaching. If your Internet appears to not work when you bring it back up, you may need to turn your router off for 10 seconds, then on again and wait a few minutes for it to re-establish a connection. If it's still not working, check your provider to see if there's an outage at their end - a list of common providers can be found here: https://www.nullarbor.com.au/support/outages/
