In 2018, I got to carry the Queen's Baton for the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.
I still think about it.
The baton relay is a big deal. It travels the whole Commonwealth before the games begin. And they pick people who have done something for their community to carry it.
I was chosen for my work with kids in performing arts.
I didn't set out to win anything. I just kept showing up for my students. Giving them a place to dance and grow and feel like they belonged.
Here's why I'm sharing this now.
If you run a kids activity business, you are doing something that counts. You're not just filling classes - you're shaping kids. You're giving families something they remember for life.
It's easy to lose sight of that in the grind. The admin, the enrolments, the marketing, the quiet weeks.
But the work is bigger than the to-do list.
So this is your reminder. What you do matters. Keep showing up xx
