The new AHPRA guidelines for cosmetic injectable clinics came into effect on 2 September 2025.
Most clinic owners have updated their clinical protocols. Far fewer have audited their website, Google Ads, and social media against the new advertising restrictions.
Here is what changed:
Influencer testimonials are now banned.
- AI-generated before and after images are prohibited.
- Language implying guaranteed or risk-free outcomes is not permitted, this includes terms like "safe", "painless", and "flawless".
- Higher-risk procedure advertising must be classified as adult content on social media.
- Practitioner registration details must appear in all advertising.
On top of AHPRA, the TGA adds a second layer of restrictions. Cosmetic injectables are Schedule 4 prescription medicines. Advertising them to the general public is prohibited, including through abbreviations, nicknames, and hashtags.
If your clinic's marketing has not been reviewed since September 2025, there is a real chance some of it is no longer compliant.
We have written a detailed guide covering what changed, what is now banned, and what it means specifically for your clinic's website, Google Ads, and social media.
