Hi! 👋 This was me in 2011. Training to be an infantry soldier in the Australian Army.

I didn't have a business back then.

But I learnt some values from my time in the army that apply in business today.

Those are: Collaboration, Communication, Commitment & Courage.

In the army, you had to work together as a team to complete missions and stay safe. The same goes for my business - collaborating and sharing ideas with businesses that I speak to help us achieve the best marketing results for you!

Effective communication is crucial in both settings. How would you like to work with a marketer that doesn't communicate? Good communication makes all the difference.

When I was in the army, we had to be fully committed to our missions... In business, I bring that same level of commitment. I know that commitment is a key ingredient to success.

In the army, we had to be brave in challenging situations, and in business, it's important to have the courage to take risks and try new things. Taking risks and stepping outside of our comfort zones can lead to amazing opportunities.

Marketing isn't just running ads.

Yes they go hand in hand.

But there is a significant difference between the two.

Marketing is the ongoing plan that scopes the entire process of selling a product or service...

Everything from branding, design, strategy, SEO, web development and social media.

It includes:
✅ Identifying target customers
✅ Conducting market research
✅ Developing a marketing strategy, and executing that strategy through various channels.

It involves all aspects of the customer journey, from initial awareness to post-sale support.

Advertising is just one (although very important) aspect of marketing.

It refers specifically to paid promotion of a product or service through various media channels, traditional and digital.

Advertising is a way to reach a large audience and create brand awareness, but it is not the only way to market a product or service.

The key to successful advertising is to make sure your messaging is consistent with all other aspects of your marketing.

So if someone clicks on your ad, and they go to a landing page, there is congruency.

If your ad doesn't match up with the next step(s), they will unconsciously react with "Huh? Did I just... this isn't what I click on!" and leave your funnel.

Congruency is key.

You run tests, review the results, which inform your next action.

Good scientists don’t take results personally and get emotional about it. Same with marketing.

You follow a process that takes you from where you are now, to where we want to be, without taking results personally.

A process like this:
✅ Plan: define your target audience, research your competition, set up the backend systems that will help you hit your KPIs.
✅ Act: put the marketing plan into action. Launch your ad campaigns.
✅ Evaluate: Track your ad performance and review your results.
✅ Learn: update your marketing plan based off your results.
✅ Adjust: as needed according to your updated plan.
✅ Repeat: keep going until you create the result you want for your business.

This mindset is super important because without it, you will never allow the marketing machine to work for your business.
