Hi Guys, I’m Sam and the founder of 88 Matchmaking. I'd like share a little story about this new adventure with you.
More than 10 years ago, I organised an event called Umbrella Speed Dating, just for fun and to help friends. We managed to recruit 15 ladies and 15 gentlemen, mainly from friends' network. 2 couples ended up being together! And 1 couple ended up getting married!! (But they didn't invite me to their wedding! Just kidding.. )
So that was more than 10 years ago, but I still got phone call once a while asking for dating event. People might have searched online and found our old event poster. I have no idea.
In my recent job I have chance to meet a lot of people. Some of them are singles. Many of them are very nice, kind and interesting, but they haven't managed to find their partners. They have similar concerns. After years of hard work to achieve their career goal and working full time, now they find it hard to have chance to meet new people. Then they end up being singles for years.
I thought, maybe I could help them! I always love to organize events and it was such a great feeling to see people finding their love ones. So I decided to set up 88 Matchmaking and hopefully it’ll became a great platform to help singles to find their partners.
Different from traditional matchmaking service, I believe people will understand each other more through social activities together, instead of just reading profile. I organize sport, BBQ, brunch , trip and so on. People can tell who you are through your every small action. It’s also easier to build connection through activities.
I believe activities provide good opportunities to show the real "you". It’s not a job interview and there's no need to try too hard to impress other people. I think most people want to look for partner who can live together with for long term.
I’ll also help to arrange one-on-one meet up if I know two people are interested in each other.
I see clients as friends, rather than customers. I'd love to get to know your personality and try to understand what you want. I’d also like to introduce people to you as a friend, rather than a “Matchmaker”.
