I’ve been a little quiet lately, and now I can finally share why.

Over the past few months, I’ve been working behind the scenes on something both exciting and slightly surreal. I’ve officially stepped into a new chapter as the owner of Perspective ND Therapy, a multidisciplinary allied health clinic specialising in neurodiversity here in WA.

For most of my career, I’ve worked alongside nonprofits and purpose-driven organisations, helping them grow, communicate their impact, and build stronger communities. With my own health journey and that of my family, and watching the very real impact of allied health on us all, I found myself drawn to the people doing the real, everyday work of supporting families, young people, and neurodivergent individuals, and wanting to contribute more directly to that impact.

This opportunity felt like a natural extension of the work I already care deeply about: creating environments where people feel supported, understood, and able to thrive.

ND Perspective is an incredible team of beautiful hardworking caring people with therapists across speech, occupational therapy, psychology and behaviour support, and I feel genuinely honoured to continue building on the foundation that already exists. My focus is simple: support great clinicians to do their best work, create sustainable systems behind the scenes, and ensure families experience thoughtful, neuro-affirming care.

Alecia Hancock Consulting isn’t going anywhere. If anything, this new adventure deepens my understanding of the challenges many organisations face every day, and I’m excited about how the two worlds will inform each other.

It’s a big step, and I’m equal parts grateful, humbled, and excited for what comes next.

Thank you to everyone who has supported me quietly along the way.
I’m endlessly grateful to the founder Renae for being such a supportive partner as I find my feet. I’m looking forward to sharing more of the journey as it unfolds.

Getting to walk into this kind of space each day feels pretty special.

So I thought I’d jump on that AI glam Christmas photo trend that’s been floating around.

I handed a few photos of myself to ChatGPT and said: festive, glamorous, fun.

ChatGPT absolutely said: say less.

First attempt? Glam was interpreted as an entirely new body type, complete with a bosom that has never existed in this lifetime.

I gently suggested we dial it back and go a little less “sexy”.

Well ChatGPT took that instruction and redistributed the extra chest to… everywhere else. Then added 5 years on me and a sleepless night, just for giggles.

No notes. Just vibes. Very generous vibes.

Anyway, please enjoy this festive reminder that AI is powerful, creative, and still wildly unqualified to generate realistic images of real people.

Merry Christmas from me and my many alternate AI forms 🎄😆

On the weekend, I climbed Mount Kosciuszko — and I’m still a bit in shock that I actually did it! 🏔️

It was the hardest physical thing I’ve ever done.
We started at 1:40AM in the dark with headlamps… hiked through snow, rain, sleet and even hail… and pushed up a final ascent that looked completely impossible.

There were moments I honestly didn’t think I’d make it — but with the support of an incredible group of women, we reached the summit together. 🙌

I did this to raise money for UN Women to support women experiencing violence around the world, and I’m so grateful to everyone who sponsored me. Your generosity kept me putting one foot in front of the other when things got seriously tough.

I hit my personal fundraising target of $1,500 while in the air to Melbourne. I had tears of happiness! Aa a group, we are just short of $40,000 raised that will litera save the lives of women experimcung violence.

Thank you for being part of something powerful.

More on the full experience (and the many wild moments!) coming in tomorrow’s blog post. I’m still processing it all!

Sorry the pics aren’t in order!

🌄 Out of Office Alert!

I’m trading my laptop for hiking boots and heading off to climb Mount Kosciuszko! Which means I’ll be mostly out of range, off the grid, and probably out of breath.

I’ll be back on Monday, hopefully with great photos, sore legs, and a deeper appreciation for Wi-Fi.

If you need me in the meantime, send good vibes (they travel better than emails)..
.. Or even better - make a donation to UN Women and help me eliminate violence against women! https://www.safeeverywherealways.org/fundraisers/aleciahancock

Catch you on the other side of Australia’s highest peak! ⛰️✨

Confused by strategy jargon?

Try this: Awareness → Nurture → Action. That’s your entire marketing process, start to finish.

Most nonprofits live in “Action-land.” They keep asking for things (volunteer time, donations, purchases) before earning trust.

If your engagement’s dropping, you’re skipping the middle step, nurture.

Here is what I urge you to do this week. Audit your last 10 posts. Label each as Awareness, Nurture, or Action. If most are “asks,” rebalance.

The best marketing feels like friendship, not fundraising.

You can get my full posting framework whenever you're ready, it's waiting for you inside The Training Vault. 🔓

✨ You’d never know it by looking at me, but sometimes just standing up feels like climbing a mountain.

My heart races, I get short of breath and it feels so strangely exhausting. My body is reacting the same way to just standing, that yours might going for a jog.

It’s called POTS, Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome.
(And no, I hadn’t heard of it either, until I found I had it and it explained SOOO much.)

Saturday was POTS Awareness Day.
Which means I’m showing up to share something most people never see.

POTS is a form of dysautonomia, a dysfunction of the autonomic nervous system. That’s the part of your body that’s supposed to handle the basics without you thinking: heart rate, blood pressure, temperature regulation, digestion, even pupil size.

But for people with POTS?
That system kind of forgot how to auto.

I can be freezing when everyone else is hot. Hot at 2am when everyone else is tucked up under a doona.

I'm ALWAYS leaning on something, the back of a chair, the wall, a piece of furniture - because it helps

So things that should be effortless like standing, walking, eating a meal, getting through a meeting can trigger racing heart, dizziness, nausea, brain fog, or feeling like you might just hit the floor.

It’s a condition that reshapes your choices.
Your calendar. Your confidence.
And sometimes, your connection to who you used to be.

If you live with an invisible illness, whether it has a name yet or not, I see you.

You’re not flaky.
You’re not anxious.
You’re doing your best to live in a body that isn’t playing by the rules.

And that’s no small thing. 💛

Mind blown. 💙

This was the subject line of an email that landed in my inbox.

Sayla from Cat Adoption Foundation mentioned on a call that she had built up years of hand written notes from training sessions, workshops and mentors and desperately wanted to put that wisdom into practice, but there was never enough time.

"AI can fix that," I told her. So I did a few experiments and voila, created some simple prompts for ChatGPT so she could take quick photos of the pages with her phone, and get everything converted into one summary and a quick PDF of action items.

Her email says:

“All my handwritten notes are now in a single PDF in categories, and I’m sitting here crying tears of joy - thank you so much!”

Moments like this are why I do what I do.

It’s not just about AI, content, or systems , it’s about clarity that gives people back their time and creating real results.

💡 If you’ve ever felt buried under notes, tools, or half-finished ideas - there’s an easier way. Maybe it's time to explore AI? Feel free to let me know if you want to know more about the Smart Nonprofit Ai Lab!

People don’t support cause, they support stories that make them feel something.

Your “why” isn’t your mission statement. It’s the moment this work became personal.
When one nonprofit founder told the story of losing her sister, engagement jumped 400% overnight.

Why? Because we moved from facts to storytelling. She made it real.

You can do the same by sharing a single, specific moment that made your cause real to you. Because facts inform. Stories transform.

You can dive into my full storytelling framework whenever you're ready, inside The Training Vault. 🔓.
