🧵✨ This Week Has Me Seeing Double! ✨🧵

This week has definitely had me seeing double! 👀💕

After some late-night prep getting everything ready, the first customer-pieced quilt is now loaded onto the longarm and ready for quilting.

My customer chose the beautiful Ripples quilting design by Urban Elementz,
a flowing pattern of gentle waves and elegant swirls that creates the look of water moving across the quilt. It's the perfect choice to add soft texture and movement while letting the pieced quilt remain the star of the show.

There's something so rewarding about seeing a customer's quilt top transformed as it moves from pieced top to finished quilt. Every quilting design is chosen to suit the quilt, and Ripples is going to give this one a beautiful finish.

📏 Measure Twice, Cut Once!

A few extra seconds before you cut can save a lot of frustration later!

One of the easiest ways to avoid costly mistakes is to double-check your measurements before cutting into your fabric. Even being a few millimetres out can affect how accurately your quilt blocks fit together.

💕 Before you cut: 📐 Check your ruler is lined up correctly.
✂️ Confirm your cutting measurements.
🧵 Make sure your fabric is straight and lying flat.
✔️ Take an extra few seconds to measure again.

🌸 Why it matters

✔️ More accurate quilt blocks
✔️ Better points and seams
✔️ Less fabric waste
✔️ A smoother quilting experience

💡 Bonus Tip:
Replace your rotary blade regularly. A sharp blade gives cleaner cuts, improves accuracy, and makes cutting safer.

Sometimes the simplest tips make the biggest difference! 💕

💡 AJY's Tip of the Day:
If you're sewing with satin fabric, lightly starch it before cutting and stitching. The starch gives the fabric more body, helps prevent slipping and fraying, and makes it much easier to achieve accurate seams. Once your project is finished, the starch will wash out, leaving the satin soft and beautiful.

A little preparation goes a long way before your quilt reaches the longarm!

Did you know that taking a few extra minutes to prepare your quilt top can make a big difference to the final result? A smooth, well-prepared quilt helps achieve beautiful stitching and allows the quilting process to run more smoothly.

💕 Before sending your quilt for longarm quilting, remember to:

🪡 Press your quilt top and seams flat.
✂️ Trim any loose threads, especially dark threads behind light fabrics.
📐 Check that your borders lie flat and aren't stretched or wavy.
🧵 Ensure your quilt top, batting, and backing are clean, flat, and wrinkle-free.

🌸 Why it matters

✔️ Helps your quilt load smoothly onto the longarm frame.
✔️ Reduces unwanted puckers and folds.
✔️ Creates more even, professional-looking quilting.
✔️ Gives your finished quilt the best possible result.

💡 Bonus Tip:
If you're piecing your quilt backing, press the seams open to reduce bulk and help the backing lie beautifully flat on the longarm.
