Cats make such loving companions
Another batch of blankies dropped off at Cat Haven WA today. They have so many gorgeous kitties, (large and small, calm or cheeky) all looking for loving homes🐾.

The great thing about indoor cats is they don't need much to be happy, a warm bed, food and water, a litter box and a lap to sit on. Maybe a cat run if you want them to have some outside time.

They will reward you with years of love and companionship. If you're not ready to commit long term, Cat Haven are also looking for foster carers.

MEMORIES FROM THE VAULT

Time hop, back to 2018 when HRH had an appointment with her physician at Perth Cat Hospital.

Lola didn't enjoy car rides, so she sang the song of discontent all the way there and all the way home.

Yet, once her paws were safely on the floor she would happily explore every nook and cranny of the waiting room and greet Dr Martine with a polite head butt and a purr.

MEMORIES FROM THE VAULT

In the late 90s I was busy running study tour programs for groups of (mainly Japanese) international students.

This often involved weekend trips to a farmstay in the south west where many urban kids met and rode a horse for the first time. 🐎 and a lot of running around a paddock with nervous kids and ponies on a leading reign for me.

I couldn't afford a pair of RM Williams boots at the time so got a pair of Baxter's - best investment ever.

My riding days are done, but here we are almost 30 years later and my Baxter's are still going strong. You can't beat them.

Happy to report ten copies of the book have sold in under a week which means $100 donation to two animal charities. Cat Haven WA and Oldies but Goodies Dog Rescue Inc both of which do wonderful work here in Perth.

The hardest thing about self publishing is getting the information out there so please share with your cat loving friends and networks.

So, after years of talking about it, and a few more grey hairs courtesy of trying to navigate the process, I've finally managed to publish Lola's story "Letters from a Pampered Princess as an e-book.

The book is a whimsical look at life in the Perth suburb of Glorious Downtown Como Beach, observed (not always politely) and written from a cat’s point of view.

The story is captured in the form of letters from a Burmese cat called The Princess Lola to a little White Russian scallywag who lives in The Land of Tractors, (Somerset) in the South West of England.

This, the first book in the series, covers the trials and tribulations of daily life and the frustrations of managing her household and staff.

Lola’s daily routine includes patrolling the palace parameters, warding off the black and white marauder from Eric Street or anything else that breaches the palace walls. She enjoys murdering the odd pipe cleaner, napping in sunbeams, grooming, ensuring her supper bowl is full, and demanding affection from her giant, clumsy two legged companions and ruling all she surveys with an iron will and silken paw.

This Boobook was called into us from a residence who found this Boobook in their backyard being swooped by other birds.

Luckily our rescuer managed to catch and get straight to Perth Wildlife Hospital for care.

While we don't know if this little one was affected by rodenticide, it's a timely reminder that 2nd generation rodenticide gets passed right through the ecosystem and anything that eats it becomes a victim.

Could you love this ginger gentleman?

Hello, here. Ma dropped off another batch of blankies to Cat Haven WA today and she met this gorgeous boy. Spencer needs a quiet home where kind humans will give him time and space to relax and decompress.

Spencer is about 2 years old and his foster Mum said he's a sweetheart who just needs a bit of time to come out of his shell.

Believe it or not, I was like that myself. Took me 6 months to sit on Ma"s lap, now I'm a cuddle monster.

She says if ginger isnt to your taste, there's lots of other kitties from little kittens to fabulous older felines who are all desperate to find a loving home. You can meet Spencer at Cat Haven this weekend.

PS: doesn't Spencer look cute sitting on one of Ma's crochet blankets.
