Ladies, here is your friendly reminder to check yourself! 🥥🥥
I was 19 when I found my first lump. At such a young age, I was not checking my body at all, it was a complete fluke that I found it.
I just simply brushed my hand across my chest and I felt it. Being so young, I was terrified. I had to go in for an ultrasound and a biopsy but fortunately, the lump was benign and nothing to worry about.
Since then, I understood the importance of regular checks.
FYI - According to my Doctor, once a month, after your cycle is the best time to check! (I was definitely not checking that regularly!)
Last month I found another lump, this being my third lump over the years, it felt similar to the last one I had so I was not overly stressed about it. I booked an appointment with my Dr to get a referral for a scan, but kept putting it off.
But this week, it started to get very painful so I called first thing Monday to get an appointment, I was lucky to get a cancellation and was seen the next day for the ultrasound and was advised a biopsy was needed, but not on the initial lump I found but instead on another one I didn’t know I had.
I was booked in for the following week but was lucky to receive a call the next day about another cancellation and got the biopsy done yesterday.
Fingers crossed 🤞🏻 it turns out to be another benign lump but if it does turn out to be something, I am grateful for the cyst that developed as I would never have felt this little lump.
I will be checking monthly and more thoroughly in the future.
Stay healthy!
