UNPOPULAR OPINION: school holidays actually give you more time than you think.

During the school term, my life is ruled by the clock. Morning routine. Making sandwiches. School drop off. Work fast. Race to pickup. Afternoon chaos. Dinner. Sport. Showers. Homework. Bed. Repeat.

There’s no breathing room, ammiright?

But when the holidays hit, everything loosens. No alarms. No uniforms. No rushing out the door by 8am. No packing lunches. No strict 2:45 finish times.

The kids settle into their own rhythm (if you can call endless scrolling and making mess ‘rhythm’), and suddenly I get these beautiful blocks of time where I can think, create, plan and get things done without being yanked away mid-thought.

It is honestly my most productive times of the year. I can sit with my laptop while the kids are playing Roblox or watching a movie and sometimes I get through more work in two hours than I do in a full day during school term.

Merry Christmas Eve! 🎄✨ I’m officially clocking off for Christmas and Boxing Day to hang out with my kids, my family, and my dogs. And now… puppies. Yes, actual tiny newborn puppies. Send snacks and coffee. ☕🐶

2025 has been a big one for me. I hosted my first social media retreat in Bali, launched my first online program [🎬 Ready, Set, SOCIAL!], and somehow survived another year of Elf on the Shelf, Christmas planning, present buying, wrapping, hiding, and re-hiding. If you know, you know.

Now that Christmas prep is basically done, I can exhale. No more mental load of “have I forgotten something?” or “what day is it?” I’m really looking forward to the rest of December and January with the kids at home, dogs under my feet, puppies to look after, and the freedom to work when it suits me. Early mornings or slow starts, afternoons off, late nights. No school bells, no lunchboxes, no rigid schedule.

So… what are my summer plans? ☀️🎄🐶 Honestly, it’s a bit of a juggle, but also my favourite time of year to work.

First up, School holidays!
The kids are home, which means fewer in-person appointments, a slower pace externally, and a lot more time internally. No 8am school drop-offs. No 3pm mad dash for pickup. No washing uniforms or packing lunches. Just more flexible days where we can ease into mornings, work around each other, and actually enjoy this season.

This is one of the reasons I love running my business the way I do. I can work early if I want to. I can work later if I want to. I can duck out for ice cream, visits to the playground, run errands, Christmas shopping, or just let the kids do their thing while I get stuff done at home.

Second. 🎬 Ready, Set, SOCIAL! Summer Sessions ☀️
Over December and January, I’ll be online more and way more available to support the 10 peeps jumping in. This is my version of summer school, but without the boring bits. It’s hands-on, do-it-with-me, and very much “let’s actually get this done”.

Helping ladies set up their social media businesses, find clients, and start earning is something I genuinely love. Think bestie sitting next to you, showing you exactly how I do things, answering questions, and cheering you on when things click.

And third, the real boss of the house. 🐾
My dog is having puppies soon. And yes, there are a LOT of tiny blobs on this xray!

So for the next 9 weeks or so, I will also be a full-time butler, personal chef, emotional support human, and professional p**p cleaner. Glamorous, I know. Between puppies, kids, Elf on the Shelf, Christmas prep, storms, heatwaves, and air-con running 24/7, the house is very much in “everyone’s home, everyone’s comfy” mode.

And weirdly, this is when I’m most productive.

When I’m not tied to the school routine, I work better. I work smarter. I work when it suits my energy, not a timetable. That’s why I built my business this way, and exactly why I’m so passionate about showing other women how to do the same.

Summer is slower, messier, warmer… but also full of opportunity if you let it be.

Now excuse me while I go check on the kids and dogs, again. 🐶💩🤣

Guess what I am doing this week… recording the final modules for 🎬 Ready, Set, SOCIAL! and honestly it’s pretty sh*t hot. This course has been in my head for so long, but now it’s moved from “idea” to “actual thing on my screen”... you’re so welcome LOL!

When I first started my biz, I had absolutely no idea what I was doing. I was fresh out of a redundancy, staring at my mortgage as a single parent, wondering if I was out of my mind trying to work for myself. I had no course. No mentor. No one saying “just do it this way.” I learned everything the messy, slow way, usually with a kid home, sick, or a dog sitting on my laptop (lucky the kids and the dogs are super cute!).

As I’ve created 🎬 Ready, Set, SOCIAL!, I promised myself it would feel like the best friend version of starting a business. The kind where you sit beside me, watch my screen, copy what I do, pause when you need to and actually finish the task before the video ends.
