🔎 Google has released its biggest change in 25 years. Combined with February’s “Hidden Gems” update, it’s good news, particularly for smaller brands.
Why?

Because Google is actively rewarding specific, localised content written by real people, meaning there’s real opportunity for brands to have a presence by being helpful.

In most instances, just a few tweaks to your existing copy will make them more likely to be picked up by traditional and Ai-mode search.
📍Add specific, local landmarks to the first paragraph of your ‘Visit Us’ page to give more context.
“Easy walking distance from {insert local landmark here}”

💎 Highlight the local hidden gems with a personal touch
“We source our bread from Apex Bakery, a Tanunda institution where the wood-fired oven has been burning continuously since 1924”

🙋 Add regional connection and credentials to your About Us page
How are your key staff members active in the local community? What are their favourite local spots? Don’t forget awards, qualifications and other recognition.

❓Why does this work?
✅ Your content demonstrates high Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness and Trustworthiness (EEAT) via specific detail that can only come from a trusted human (not Ai).
✅ It creates a direct connection between your digital presence and your physical location.

🖇️ Don’t neglect website structure:
Schema Mark-up is the structure (or guide) that allows Ai-agents to read, understand and quickly verify your content. Without it, your great content may get missed. There are lots of user-friendly options available to assist, including plugins like Yoast SEO or Rank Math.

It’s a new and constantly evolving space and we’ll keep bringing you some tips as we see the results in practice.

🤷 Does this still feel a bit much? Or are you curious to learn more?
We’d love to chat about the possibilities for your brand. DM us to chat.

🍷OR if you’re a wine brand in South Australia, we’re coming to a region near you this June and July. Check out “From Vine To Cart” full-day workshops. Focused on building successful DTC channels, we’d love to see you there.

Moments like the return of Rouge Homme to Redman Wines is at the very heart of why Mastermind exists…. Bringing beautiful brand stories to life. This one has been a super special project, with a sentimental connection!

Almost 20 years ago, when Trish Barry worked at Southcorp Wines she got to know the Rouge Homme brand. An icon of Coonawarra. Many friends worked on projects to keep the stories alive as brand managers or in PR, Trish even had a stint when it hit her portfolio. Many of our friends who are winemakers made wines under the Rouge Homme label. Alongside Wynns Coonawarra, it was part of the Coonawarra story in the portfolio.

The brand was purchased by Lindemans in 1965, but the story goes back well beyond that, tied to the early days of Coonawarra when Bill and Owen Redman were selling bulk wine to some of the bigger companies like Penfolds and Yalumba.

In 1951 the famous Sydney wine connoisseur Rudy Komon visited Coonawarra, visiting the Redman family and wanted to taste some of the wines that had been winning accolades in recent wine shows. There was nothing to taste. So, the next year, a small portion was kept back and released under the Rouge Homme label - the name coming from a french dictionary, meaning Red Man (although not grammatically correct!) Rouge Homme was born and went on to win many accolades, putting the medium bodied style of wines being made in Coonawarra on the global map.

So it was with great delight this week to see Rouge Homme returned to the Redman family, the brand being purchased back from Treasury Wine Estates. A special moment 60 years after the brand was sold. Redman Wines was born in 1966.

Redman has been part of the Mastermind family for nearly a decade. It's been a wonderful chance to reflect on how timeless some of these classic Australian brands can be! We can't wait to bring a new chapter to this story. You all know we love a tale with the intersection of wine and history!

If you're not familiar with the Rouge Homme story, it's worth taking a moment to understand the significance and how it put Coonawarra on the map - have a read -> https://www.redman.com.au/rouge-homme-returns-to-redman-wines/

This year, the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW is celebrating 200 years since wine was first included in the Agricultural Society of NSW’s annual Show. To celebrate, on 31 July, after the conclusion of judging, the Sydney Royal Wine Show will host an industry symposium, “Sydney Royal 200: The Wine Show Conversation”.

Former Chair of Judges, Iain Riggs AM, Sam Connew and PJ Charteris have been announced as the panel leads, alongside current Chair, Mike De Iuliis and International Judge, Matthew Jukes. Other leading Australian wine show judges will join the panel to bring insights and perspectives into how wine shows continue to advance Australian wine quality.

Attendees will have the opportunity to understand how the Australian wine show system works and go behind the scenes to see how wine is assessed. There will be a full day of tasting, debate and celebration built around four judged brackets of wine. Wines will be tasted blind and scored, as you sit alongside some of the sharpest minds in the business as they reflect on where wine shows have come from, explain how to get involved and explore where wine shows are heading in the future.

This full-day event is for exhibitors, aspiring wine judges, marketers, sommeliers, retailers. We're working super hard on the program and we're sure it will be a wonderful tribute to 200 years of agricultural excellence. Hope to see you there!

Only 200 tickets available. If you're industry, DM us and we'll send you a code to receive a small discount.

We were so proud to celebrate our Marketing Assistant Kate being recently welcomed into the prestigious UNSW Co-Op program as a marketing scholar.

Having completed the HSC in late 2025 with exceptional results, a business degree was not necessarily the priority. But being offered one of seven marketing scholar positions after a rigorous interview process was an opportunity too good to pass up.

The Co-Op program includes 3 industry placements at companies such as Salesforce, McDonalds and Amex along with mentoring and leadership opportunities, whilst completing a Bachelor of Commerce Degree, majoring in Marketing.

Kate is no stranger to many of you. She has grown up surrounded by wine, food and marketing her whole life. In fact, she was literally the reason that Mastermind began when Trish started Mastermind 17 years ago, building the business around her young family. Kate has been a valued member of the team, working part-time on marketing, social media and PR projects for the past 18 months whilst she completed her HSC along with her Diploma of Communications.

We cannot wait to see what is ahead for you, Kate, as you continue to refine your knowledge of marketing, putting the theory into practice and bringing your own unique perspectives to the team.

For many wineries, digital marketing can feel overwhelming, expensive, and relentless. Algorithms change. Platforms keep evolving. Everyone has an opinion on where you should be focusing. But online is a core driver of incremental winery growth. So how do you cut through the noise and use the tools that move the needle?

That's exactly why we’re working with South Australian Wine Industry Association to launch Vine to Cart, to help you navigate this ever-changing digital landscape with confidence.

For nearly two decades, Trish Barry and Emily Hay have been at the heart of digital marketing strategy in the wine industry - leading campaigns like RosĂŠ Revolution, launching websites, spearheading campaigns like Fiano Festa, and training wineries across the country to strengthen their Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) presence. This jam-packed one-day masterclass is designed specifically for South Australian wine producers: cutting through the noise, and giving you the tools, clarity and confidence to market your winery in the digital world without losing your mind or your authentic voice.

They'll walk you through everything from getting your website working harder and building an email list of subscribers who buy wine, to creating content you're genuinely proud of. You'll get practical, honest insight into what's really driving DTC sales in 2026 including how to use AI tools to save precious time. Real wine-industry expertise, delivered with warmth, straight talk, and plenty of good examples.

You'll leave with a clear picture of where your digital presence stands today, what to prioritise, and a 90-day action plan you can execute.

And if you want to go deeper? A limited number of follow-up mentoring sessions are available across email marketing, social media planning and digital strategy, so you're never left figuring it out alone.

We will be hosting these workshops in Vale and throughout June/July. Bookings online.

The Royal Agricultural Society of NSW is proud to celebrate 200 years since wine was first added as a class in the 1826 Royal Agricultural Society of NSW Show. From those early days there's been an evolution, reflecting changes that have mirrored Australian drinking trends, with some of our greatest wine minds working tirelessly to champion agricultural excellence.

Now, as entries open for the 2026 Sydney Royal Wine Show, it's worth delving into how much of a role the show and the passionate people involved have shaped the quality of Australian wine. In many instances, putting brands and various styles of Australian wine on the global map, particularly when international judges come to evaluate and comment on what they have discovered.

Importantly, wine shows like Sydney Royal play a really important role in giving back to industry. $275,000 in scholarships contributed since 2013 and countless careers shaped through mentors and education that have improved the quality of wine assessment. It is something Australia has very much championed, leading the way for other wine producing nations to emulate.

Trish Barry has proudly been an industry advisor to the Sydney Royal Wine Committee for the last 3 years. In recent weeks, our team have been working alongside The RAS wine and marketing team to compile some of the stories that have shaped this milestone moment. It truly has some incredible stories of how Australian wine has evolved. Stay tuned for more to come...

Have a read through the fascinating tales, and if you’re a wine producer, get your entries in for the 2026 Sydney Royal Show before they close on 20 May.

HOW TO GET INVOLVED IN OPEN THAT BOTTLE NIGHT 2026
It’s no secret that the Mastermind team love the concept of Open That Bottle Night. Held the last Saturday night in February each year, it’s a chance for wine lovers to gather and open those wines that they have been saving for a special occasion. This year the date falls on 28 February. The concept was created in 2000 when responded to reader questions about when they should drink those wines they have been saving.

Not sure how to get involved for winery, retailer or restaurant involved? We explain the concept and share some tips over on our blog.
