Recently Griffith proposed cuts and changes to QCA programs and jobs and as a result studio practices from both photography and fine art are under major threat. Liveimage is not affected by these proposed changes for the time being, however we all benefit from a vibrant arts and photography ecosystem both within the QCA community as well as the broader Queensland Arts/Photography community. We stand in solidarity with QCA Fine Art and Photography studios and staff in the hopes that we retain these practices and resources.

WHAT CAN WE DO NOW?
1. Email the Vice Chancellor with your concerns about the proposed changes by the deadline of 27 NOVEMBER. If you are unsure of what to write, or need some inspiration, we have drafted a template for you to use (document on Facebook). We strongly encourage you to personalize your letter and include your own story in your message. Emails should be sent to [email protected]
2. Share the word to everyone you know. This needs to go far and wide! Use the following hashtags and imagery on Facebook (by Matthew Newkirk) on social media to unify the movement:
You can also tag the GU and QCA official accounts to flood them with our concerns.
3. A petition is being drafted and will be available to ASAP. A media release will follow. These statements need to accurately reflect the impact of the changes and are being thoroughly assessed before release.
4. A Covid-safe protest/rally/physical event is also in the works.
5. In order to keep track of media outlets/MP’s and community members who have been contacted a live spreadsheet is being created which invites everyone to note down who they have contacted and when. This will avoid gaps in our campaign, and helps us with our planning.
6. Finally: a note to please remember that we need to remain respectful and supportive of QCA staff — we are trying to protect them and their jobs, not place them at further risk. It is vital to note that the proposed changes are not b
