SEO vs AdWords (aka pay-per-click, PPC)

Here are 2 questions you should ask when considering if SEO or AdWords is better for you.

(SEO is search engine optimisation to get your website ranking on page 1 for the 10 organic results & map listings, vs the Google advertisement positions that typically appear above & below these results.)

1. Can you wait a couple months to build up results, or do you need web hits TODAY? If today, PPC is better because SEO will always take longer.

But beware...if all your budget goes to PPC & you're not building your long term organic rankings, you'll likely spend more in the long run, your cost may always go up for PPC, & it's hard to get away from it. Whether you need quick results or not, if you're thinking long term, you're smart to do the SEO (or hire someone for it).

2. Is your AdWords cost per click fairly LOW for your relevant keywords, yet page one is filled w/highly authoritative sites that will be hard to outrank organically? Here AdWords can really be a good option because these high ranking websites that give out lots of info on a topic but aren't really competing locally for business won't be bidding much, if anything, against you on Adwords. So in this scenario it's easier to jump onto page 1 with pay per click!
