How much of a difference does traveller-led design make to your airport?

That is the question we set out to solve with Cox Architecture.

Using our expertise in choice modelling, we presented travellers with real designs (ranging from good, better and best) to measure how much traveller-led design impacts on dwell time and propensity to spend.

Matt Findlay and Ivo Favotto will be presenting the key findings of the piece at this year’s Australian Airports Association Retail & Commercial Forum.

Stay tuned for the key insights on day 2 of the Forum.

Also, a big shout out to Dr Jacqueline Baker for sharing her expertise in this project.

This marks THINK’s third consecutive year presenting the “Voice of the Traveller” at the 2024 Australian Airports Association Retail and Commercial Forum.

Each year, THINK uncovers how the Traveller mindset has changed and what we need to do as an industry now and in the future.

"The commitment demonstrated by airports to commence the Forum with a consumer-centric approach is commendable. This research provides invaluable insights from both the perspectives of stakeholders and travellers, enabling us to identify and address challenges collaboratively while co-creating opportunities to enhance the overall end-to-end traveller experience" - Managing Director, Kristy Ihle.

Thanks Ivo Favotto, The Mercurius Group, The Moodie Davitt Report and Australian Airports Association. We look forward to sharing the latest insights to kick off day two of the forum.

Curious about how airports decide on strategic investments?

Our most recent collaboration with Melbourne Airport is a great example.

We evaluated what were the necessary improvements for their luggage trolleys and helped establish optimal pricing structures.

Simulating real-life scenarios, THINK gained insights into the travellers' decision-making process.

What we found shaped Melbourne Airport's trolley strategy, creating a win-win for travellers and Melbourne Airport.

From little brands, big brands grow!

Last week Kristy Ihle, our Manager Director, provided valuable traveller insights at The Tasmanian Travel Retail Bootcamp.

THINK provided each delegate with a tactile blueprint on how to use data as a proof point to drive impactful conversations with airports.

The Bootcamp allowed retailers, buyers, and airports to come together to partner with emerging local brands, providing the information needed to be placed in airport retail and duty-free.

Nothing was off the table with Scott English from global brand STARWARD Whisky, and Jason Lees from Lark Distillery talking about the trials and tribulations that have made them mega brands today.

It's hard to believe they once were both startups, but their vision of still supporting these exciting emerging brands was a testament to the Bootcamp forum Ivo Favotto.

Tom Harrison from SSP Australia & New Zealand and Chris Laverty from Lagardere AWPL provided a buyer lens sharing industry insights on what drives success in this space.

Thanks to Norris Carter and Belinda Bresnehan for sharing the expansion details for Hobart Airport. It was the perfect time and location to kick this off.

Open the door, we’ve won an exciting new project!

Homebuyers make purchase decisions based on rational and emotional factors.

By segmenting the Victorian homebuyer's market, we will understand the migration from renting to first homebuyers, and the lifestyle factors that impact that next purchase to upgrade, downsize or invest.

We know the market is rapidly changing and buyers are changing with it, but one thing is for sure...“There’s no place like home”.

Stay tuned.

Want to know how to get your brand into Airports? The Bootcamp workshop is here, and what better place to start this initiative than in Hobart.

THINK’s Managing Director, Kristy Ihle, will run a workshop with brands to use data as a proof point and arm them with an approach to support impactful discussions with airports.

After this session, each brand will have the tools and templates to create an 'airport blueprint for success' in the airport retail channel.

What matters to home buyers in house and land?

The three S’s:
- Size
- Safety
- Sustainability (related to design features that deliver savings to home buyers)

Great insights session presented by the expert Fiona Wong.

Thanks REA Group for today’s event, and ABN Group, Astrid Kelaher and Madeleine Hayes for the invitation.
