The PRG team have been out and about at the past two days. Always lovely to reconnect with old faces and meet new ones. Some fantastic talks from hugely impressive founders have taken place across the event, providing a huge amount of insights, inspiration and food for thought.

“An Electric Vehicle. We know it’s essential. And we know it’s the future. But we haven’t had broad societal buy in yet. And policymakers are still trying to understand how to harness it and how not to impede it.”

That was how one voice at - Australia’s largest festival of innovation, imagination and impact - described the startup ecosystem. As an agency that represents disruptors, and businesses and ideas of the future, it seemed like a very apt metaphor.

Last week _SOUTHSTART brought together many of the businesses and minds that are bringing that future to life. There were unicorns, there were early-stage startups and there was everything in between. It was a privilege to play a small part as the ecosystem came together to converse, celebrate and chart a path forward.

Last week, 7NEWS Melbourne's Kathleen O'Connor joined Magic Valley at an exclusive tasting of its newly launched cultivated pork. Speaking to CEO Paul Bevan and Head of Research Andrew Laslett, she highlighted that by 2050, the global demand for cultivated meat is tipped to increase by 100%.

We're thrilled to share that Magic Valley's cultivated pork has been featured in The Guardian Australia! Vegetarian Matilda Boseley and meat lover Donna Lu gave Magic Valley's lab-grown pork a taste test, showcasing the potential of our innovative and sustainable meat alternative.

Magic Valley CEO, Paul Bevan, confirms that the pig from which the cells were harvested is alive and enjoying a happy, normal life. Magic Valley are proud to offer a cruelty-free and environmentally conscious option for the future of meat consumption.

Joshua Brooks-Duncan & Joshua Ball are the brains behind Melbourne startup Farmers Pick, delivering Australians ‘imperfect’ fruit & veg at up to 30% less than supermarket prices.
