I had an absolute blast putting this spec project together. 🎬👇
Most video ads just yell at you to buy something. But for this spec ad (built for a luxury wilderness concept, Aether), I really wanted to create something that makes you physically exhale.
The goal was simple: make the viewer feel the stress of the everyday grind, and then give them the ultimate escape. Here is how I approached the edit:
Starting with the chaos: You can’t really sell “peace” if someone’s brain is still racing from scrolling their feed. So, I leaned into it. I started with fast pacing, cold colors, and overlapping, stressful city audio to mirror that “always on” reality we live in.
The audio drop: My absolute favorite part of this edit is at 0:14. The most powerful tool we have in video isn’t always visual—it’s sound. I used a hard match-cut from the city directly to a leopard’s eye, dropping all that chaotic noise into absolute silence. Just a heartbeat. It completely changes the energy of the video and makes the jungle feel like a primal instinct waking up.
Letting it breathe: Once we actually reach the sanctuary, the pacing slams the brakes. We shifted to warm golden-hour colors, acoustic audio, and ended exactly on a deep human exhale.
I genuinely believe great video marketing shouldn’t just show a product; it should take your audience on a mini-emotional journey. You have to make them feel the problem before you can offer the solution.
If you are a brand looking to step away from standard, boring ads and want to build a cinematic experience like this that actually moves your audience, let’s chat. My DMs are open. 🌿
